For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Magwood RoweMAGWOOD, Rowe - It is with great sadness  we announce the passing of William Rowe Magwood on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 at the age of 100. Rowe will finally be reunited with his loving wife, Pearl, of 62 years, who passed away almost 14 years ago to the day.

Loving father of Karen, Lynn, and Gary (Sandra). He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren Rory (Dina), Laura (Doug), Jason (Cicely), Melanie, Brandon (Sarah), and Reagen (Brandon), and his adored great-grandchildren Emily, Ryan, Katelyn, Justin, Jason, Chris, Ella, Dominique, Arthur, Avery, and Madeline.

Born in Fergus, Ontario on August 14th, 1917, to the late Willam and Emma (Rowe) Magwood, he was second youngest of eight children. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Before moving to Hamilton, Rowe worked a short time at Beatty Bros. in Fergus with his older brother. He retired from Otis Elevator after over 40 years of service. Rowe was a talented tool and dye maker, and could build anything for the task.

He enjoyed many years of curling and golfing, and was a member of Wentworth Curling Club and Glendale Golf & Country Club. Upon retiring, he fulfilled another passion when he bought and trained a horse for several years. Rowe was also a Past Master of Buchanan Lodge No.550 A.F & A.M. and had attained his 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite and a member of the Scottish Rite Club. He was a devoted member of the Centenary United Church in Hamilton for over 50 years.

Rowe will be missed by the staff and residents of Macassa Lodge, and forever remembered for his kind spirit and ceaseless optimism by all who knew him.

His family will receive friends at the Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A Masonic service will take place at 8 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, February 12th at 11 a.m. in the chapel with cremation to follow.
