For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

VAN EEK, Ellen (Ploegstra) - May 31, 1931 – May 11, 2018

The Lord in His infinite wisdom took Ellen from Arie, her husband of 64 years, after a lifetime of partnership in ministry.

Loving mother of: Calvin (Gloria), St. Agatha; Jane (George) Nieuwenhuis, Calgary; Esther (Simon du Toit), Windsor; Shirlene (Michael) Abma, Grand Rapids, MI; John (Julie), Mt. Hope. Loving grandma of 22 and devoted great-grandma of 4. Survived by one sister and 3 sisters-in-law; pre-deceased by her identical twin and 4 other siblings, as well as 3 in-laws.

Ellen had the exceptional ability to make everyone feel loved, heard and understood.

Visitation will be held at BETHEL CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 616 Dundas St E, Waterdown (At Kerns Rd.) on Tuesday, May 15th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at BETHEL CRC on Wednesday, May 16th at 11 a.m. preceded by a private interment.

Donations to Friendship Ministries or Bible League of Canada where Ellen enjoyed volunteering.
