For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

CAREY, Richard - Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after a short battle with health issues, on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in his 73rd year. 

He is now rejoined with the love of his life Vera.  Son of the late Garfield and Katerine Carey.  Loving father of John Paul Carey and his wife Heather, Kelly Lawrence and her husband George.  Cherished Grandfather of Matthew Lawrence and Sarah Lawrence. 

He is survived by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by sisters and brothers Joan Barrie, Garfield “Brother” Carey, John Thomas Carey, Delores Beaton, Lorraine MacDonald and Buddy Roland. 

A special thanks to the Nurses and Doctors at the Hamilton General ICU West for the care and comfort they provided to Richard. 

Cremation has taken place.  Friends will be received at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, Stoney Creek on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Inurnment to follow. 

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
