SPAGNUOLO, Umberto - It is with great sadness that the family of Umberto Spagnuolo announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by loving family and friends, on Monday, July 9, 2018, at the age of 97.
Most known for his infectious laugh, Umberto's sense of humour was unforgettable. A humble, kind-hearted, and passionate man, Umberto's life and legacy will live forever through his loving and committed family.
Born in the mountains of Sant'Ippolito, Italy, Umberto managed his family's farm, developing a strong sense of leadership and passion, which inspired his devotion to the grocery store, Fortinos. Along with his partners, Umberto reflected his Italian roots in all aspects of Fortinos. Umberto's joyful smile and strong work ethic will always be remembered throughout the Fortinos stores.
Umberto is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 66 years, Gina (nee Fortino); his three loving sons and daughters-in- law, Ippolito Spagnuolo and his wife Adriana Spagnuolo, Frank Spagnuolo and his wife Stella Spagnuolo, Michael Spagnuolo and his wife Elvira Spagnuolo. He will be profoundly missed by his adoring grandchildren: Robert (Jennifer), Christian, Adam (Laura), Ariana, David, Alexandra, Sebastian, and Allessia.
Dear brother of the late Virginia and her late husband Pasquale Belsito, the late Francesco Spagnuolo, the late Vittorio Spagnuolo and his late wife Clementina, and the late Giovanna and her late husband Carmine Tiano. Brother-in-law of the late Maria and her late husband Stan Filice, Pileria and the late John Fortino, Franco and the late Angela Carobelli, Ada and her late husband Armando Caruso. He will also be dearly missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visitation at Fricolanti Funeral Chapel, Wednesday 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Catherine of Siena (Our Lady of Lourdes Site) , 416 Mohawk Road E., Hamilton, Thursday July 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow.
