Halpin GerryHALPIN, Robert Gerrard 'Gerry' - Peacefully and suddenly at home on Sunday September 11, 2016 in his 88th year- ready and waiting to celebrate his 87th birthday, that same day, with his family making a statement by leaving this world on the same day as he arrived.

Those who knew him, know how much he would delight in this. Son of the late Mary (nee Behan) and William Halpin.

Dear father to Ruth Orwin (Dave), Regan Halpin both of Belleville, Ross Halpin of Toronto, Ray Halpin of Edmonton and RobBob Halpin of Smithfield.

Predeceased by sisters Evelyn, Irene, Pat and Elsie-all of Dublin, Ireland.

Ever remembered by former spouse Rita Halpin (nee Cruise) of Dublin, Ireland, daughter in law Kathi Halpin of Maple Ridge, B.C. and grandchildren Jacob, Miranda, Liam, Kieran, Nicole and Anne-Marie, and 7 great grandchildren and 5 nieces and nephews.

Gerry was a pretty active citizen of the world, starting in his youth as a founding member of a Gaelic Football Club in Croke Park, Dublin in 1947; a member of An Oige (Irish Youth Hostel); a member of the Knights of Columbus; and a founding member of the Canadian Irish Society (Belleville). Gerry was famously known for this "Gerry-isms", where he adeptly used word-play to entertain any audience willing to concede, and for his dry sarcastic sense of humour.

At Gerry's request there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of his life will be announced shortly.

If desired, donations may be given in Gerry's name to his favourite charities; Covenant House or any local Food Bank.

"Nil aon chiall I bheith marbh ach amhain ma leirionn tu air"
