Betty succumbed to a pernicious cancer despite her tremendous strength.

Betty and Bob were grateful for the constant prayers of the parish during her illness. The family extends special thanks to our many friends and neighbours who provided help and support.

Schamerhprn RonSCHAMERHORN, Ronald Henry - WWII - April 21, 1926 to October 31, 2017 - Ron Schamerhorn, aged 91, went Home to be with his beloved wife Dorothy on Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

He had spent the last few months at K-Wing, Veterans Long Term Care at Sunnybrook in Toronto. The wonderful staff took excellent care of his every need, giving him the best quality of life that they could.

While serving with the Canadian Army during World War II, he corresponded with a pen pal from Owen Sound, Amelia Dorothy Charlton. After the war, they met, fell in love, married and settled in Belleville. Ron worked for the Canadian National Railway and then as a Custodial Supervisor for the Hastings County District School Board.
