For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Strachan GeorgeSTRACHAN, George Strachan - Aged 92 years. Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, carpenter, veteran.

Passed away at Ross Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1924, George joined the Royal British Navy during WWII and served as signalman aboard a Tank Landing Craft.

He emigrated to Canada in 1954 with only a few dollars in his pocket and a box of tools.

 

Coad LauraCOAD, Laura Marie (nee Freeman) - Entered into rest peacefully at the Thornton View Long Term Care facility in Oshawa on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in her 94th year.

Marie (nee Freeman) was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Ralph Coad (1994).

Predeceased by her sisters Agnes Hickey (Vincent), Rosaleen Cronin (Timothy), Loretta Hickey (Anthony) and by her brothers Bernard Freeman (Annie) and John Freeman (Jean).

Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

 

Gorrill DavidGORRILL, David John - Entered into rest at Ross Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 27, 2017.

He was predeceased by his father Charles and brothers James and Gerald.

David is survived by and will be greatly missed by his mother Ruth, his brother Brian, his children Amber-Lynn and Jesse and step-daughter Sarah; as well as his sister-in-law, nephew, granddaughter and step grandchildren.

 

Hoy NeilHOY, Neil Laverne - Entered into rest at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the age of 70.

Neil was the beloved husband of the late Jackie Wippert (2016).

Predeceased by his parents Velma and Archie Hoy. Father of Michael and his partner Suzie Taylor. Grandfather of Dylan Hoy. Dear brother of Ralph, Donna and Nick Carchidi, Marlene Hoy. Predeceased by his brother Murray.

 

Chapman RubyCHAPMAN, Ruby May (nee Brown) – Peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017, at Caressant Care Nursing Home, McLaughlin Road, Lindsay, in her 98th year.

Ruby (née Brown) was the beloved wife of the late Charles Chapman (April 26, 1971). Loving mother of Verna Dwyer (Martin), Hazel Holder (Lorne), Ruth Hopkins, Bill (Nancy), Joan Corley (Keith) and Bob (Shelda). Cherished grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Ruby was predeceased by her parents George and Isabella Brown, and siblings Lloyd (the late by Mildred), Sam (the late Myrtle), and Bob (survived by Alice).

Beloved husband of the late Elaine (2004).

Loving father of David (Tammie), Shane (deceased 2014), Warna (Craig Mintz), grandpa of Joshua, Leila (Phil), Jade, Shannon, Samantha, Shawn, Cody (Sydney), Candise and great grandfather of Nolan, Denver, Lucas. Dear brother of Beverly Elliott (Roy-deceased).

 

Carew RobertCAREW, Robert Cecil – Promoted to Glory at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, Ontario on Saturday, November 25th, 2017 at the age of 78.

Robert was the beloved husband of Diane Carew in their 58th year of marriage.

Cherished father of Wendy Lou Carew (Paul Goodridge), Katherine Wilson (Mark Tripp) and Jill Carew (Greg McKinnon). Loving grandfather of Lindsay, Lauren, Alexandra, Emma and Megan. Dear brother of Carol Ann Jewell (Ron) and the late George Carew (survived by Sandra).

Robert Carew was a devoted soldier in the Salvation Army giving selflessly of his time, energy and humour. When the Lord asked, he never refused, serving as Treasurer, Corps Sergeant-Major, Bandsman, Janitor and Youth Group Leader.

 

Kennedy MurrayKENNEDY, Cecil Louis 'Murray' – (March 29, 1928 – November 25, 2017) – With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Cecil Louis ‘Murray’ Kennedy, in his 90th year.

Devoted father of Blaine (Candace) of Brantford, Darryl (Paula) of Oshawa, Craig (Michelle) of Omemee, and Eric (Gail) of Lindsay. Cherished grandfather of Daniel, Sarah, and Lara; Samantha, Trevor, and Jocelyn; Michael and Ian. Longtime very special friend of Jean Smart of Lindsay.

As an avid cattleman, Murray’s knowledge of cattle and the markets led him to know many farmers throughout Ontario in his early years as a trucker and later in his job as a livestock marketer for the United Cooperative of Ontario and the Ontario Stockyards at Cookstown.

Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Jason, Jim, Bryan, Christopher, Shawn, Anne-Marie, Kristen, Laurie Anne, Jenni, Corryn, Stephen, Michelle and by his great grandchildren Ashley, Amanda, James, Jason, Jordan, Arlene, David, Lennox, Scarlet, Caydence, Christopher and Anakyn.

HEMMINGS, Karen Diane (Caldwell) - Passed away peacefully after a long battle with M.S. at Extendicare Kawartha Lakes, on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017, at the age of 62.

Karen is the beloved mother of Lisa and Grant (Mary). Loving grandmother to Alyssa.

Adored sister of Kevin (Lori). Predeceased by her parents Frances Brownlee (Robert). Karen will be missed by her nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

Guiry JamesGUIRY, James Duncan - (October 11, 1933 - November 22, 2017) - It is with great sadness that the family of James Duncan Guiry announces his passing peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.

He leaves behind his loving wife Barbara Jane (nee) Predhomme, their children Shawne Pehar, Paul (Debra) and Timothy, his sister Mona Chouinard (Bob) and he was predeceased by his brother John.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Erin, Ashleigh, John Ryan, Dylan, Shane, Alexandra, Stephen and James, and great-grandchildren Emily, Nathan, Miles and Lilia.

 

LaPorte DonLaPORTE, Donald William ‘Don’ – (Owner & Operator of Don’s Auto Shampoo) – Peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay.

Don was the beloved husband of Audress LaPorte, for 56 years. Loving father of Carolyn Hemminger (Jerry), Shelly Scott (Michael), and Kathy LaPorte (Scott Kellam). Cherished grandfather of Rob (Megan) and Jeff (Victoria) Hemminger, and Shelby and Madison Scott; and great granddaughter Olivia.

Don is survived by his siblings Doris Winters (the late Cecil), Ed LaPorte (the late Linda), Barb Nesbitt (Ken), and Jim (Carolyn). He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Gladys and siblings Frank (survived by Doris “Louie”), Dianna Smith (survived by John), Dave (survived by Marilyn), and Clara Higgins (survived by Howard).

Beloved wife and best friend of Del Watson. Cherished daughter of Harina Lynn and the late Clayton Lynn. Loving mother of Donna and Joanna (Jim Brookes). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Crystal, Derrick, Lucas, Rachel, Jennifer, Daphne, David, Liam and by her many great grandchildren.

Loving mother of Dianne, Murray, Rae, Elaine, Ross, Joan, Doreen, Bill, Albert and Vincent.

Proud grandmother of 48 grandchildren.

Born in Prince Edward Island on October 12, 1922 to John and Jessie Jay formerly of Midgell, PEI.

She met her husband-to-be in Halifax during World War 2 and got married on November 21, 1942 to William Henry Munroe (January 18, 1921 – November 4, 1970).

 

Wilson JoanWILSON, Joan Gwendolyn (nee MaGill) - Entered into rest peacefully at her home in Lindsay on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the age of 80.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Wilson (2005).

Loving mother of Douglas and his wife Viela of Cavan, Kathy and her husband Phil (DiMaso) of Milton, Steven and his wife Susan of Fenelon Falls, Judy and her husband Mike (Murphy) of Madoc and Ken Wilson of Lindsay.

Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Clayton, Chris, Shannon, Kaitlyn, Colin, Andi, Rob, Brodie, Breena and by her 6 great grandchildren.
