STRUIK, Gerrit - (August 27, 1927 - August 12, 2016) - With hearts thankful for his full life, we announce the passing of Gerrit Struik on Friday, August 12, 2016, in his 89th year.
Born in Borger, the Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada in 1953 where he met his wife Aartje Veerman, and married her in Toronto on January 19, 1957. Gerrit and Aartje were hard-working immigrants who came to Canada with little, and together made a successful career in farming.
Widowed since 2012, Gerrit leaves behind his children Peter (Brenda), Mark (Jennifer), Isabel, Naomi (Jonathan) and his grandchildren Luke, Josh, and Christina. He is survived by a number of siblings and extended family and friends, and was loved by those who knew him.

Louise was a long-term resident and owner of Grandview Villa in Thurstonia Park on Sturgeon Lake.

MAW, Thomas William 'Tom' - Tom Maw, passed away at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, this past Sunday August 7, 2016. Tom was 80 years old and suffered from lung disease.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bunny, his three children and their spouses, Tim (Jennifer), David (Kate), Amanda (Brian) and by his eight grandchildren.
Tom was a longtime member of the Lions Club and served as President in Fenelon Falls, and before that, Strathroy, Ontario. He enjoyed camping and travelling, but loved to go fishing with his grandchildren.
Tom spent most of his working life with CN Rail, leaving the company several years ago as Superintendent of Sarnia operations.

VANSTONE, Jack Earlen - Peacefully, Jack passed away on August 6, 2016 at William Osler Hospital, Etobicoke General site, at age 89.
Born in Lindsay, he completed his primary education at Lindsay Central School. In 1941, he moved with his family to Toronto, where he pursued vocational training and graduated from Weston Collegiate and Vocational School in 1945.
Jack joined the Air Cadet League of Canada in Toronto in 1942 and received pilot training, leading to a private pilot licence. He retired as an Air Cadets instructor with a rank of Flying Officer in the Supplementary Reserve (A.C.O.).
In 1972, Jack completed a beginner’s square dance class, leading to a long association with square and round dancing in the Toronto area. Jack worked for Procter & Gamble, retiring after almost 30 years with the Toronto head office.
