Green DonGREEN, Donald Baillie - It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of Donald Baillie Green at the age of 86 on September 29th, 2016. Don left this world peacefully surrounded by his family.

Beloved husband of 60 years to the wife he adored, Shirley (Russell), the most amazing father to Debbie O'Brien, Donald (Lizette) Green and Ellen Wallace (Les) and a wise and loving gramps to Michael O'Brien, Matthew O'Brien, Elyse Green, Erica Green and step grandfather to Mary Wallace and Mitch Wallace.

There are no words that could ever adequately describe this incredible man. He was born in Toronto on Dec 20, 1929 to Marion and Bremner Green and was little brother to Bremner and Betsy (both deceased).  He attended RMC and married Shirley shortly after graduation.

Don's success in business is legendary. He joined his father in law, Harrison Russell, and would grow United Maple Products into one of largest producers of maple syrup in Canada. He would later partner with Robert Bras at Menu Foods which would become the largest manufacturer of private-label wet pet food in the world.

Don always enjoyed jumping into small business ventures and mentored numerous companies along the way.  He took great pride in the success of others and was always humble about his contribution.

Don was acutely aware that his successes in life were a gift. His philanthropy has touched people around the globe. From the funding of the Y pool in Brockville, supporting numerous projects at the Brockville General Hospital, the support of Canadian Aid for Chernobyl and the building of the SOS Children's Village in Namibia, he truly demonstrated that one man can make a difference in the world. The creation of The Don and Shirley Family Charitable Foundation in 2002 ensures his generosity will continue for generations. To list all of the organizations he gave to would fill a book.

His love of golf and travel added to the immense joy he felt spending time with his family. He will be missed and remembered by the hundreds of friends with whom he shared his love of life and huge smile.

The family wishes those who loved him to know that he demonstrated his characteristic courage and selflessness during his final days.  Safe travels Duckie.

A celebration of life will be held at the Brockville Aquatarium, 6 Broad Street, Brockville, Ontario, on Sunday, October 2nd from 2:30-5:30 pm with tributes by the family taking place at 3:30 pm.

A special thank you for the kind and compassionate care Don received from the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care unit at the Brockville General Hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Don's memory to Canadian Aid for Chernobyl, PO #244, Brockville, ON., K6V5V5 or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to the Irvine Funeral Home, 4 James Street East, Brockville.
