Doreen Jessica Gage, 93, born in Trieste, Italy, passed away on February 12, 2018 after a long illness.
She was a resident of the Perley and Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre in Ottawa.
She was the beloved wife of the late John O. Gage of Hamilton Ontario.
She is survived by her four boys and their families; Douglas and Kathy Gage, of Ottawa, son Cooper, daughter Katlin and husband Oliver with great-grandchildren Olivia and Weston, Duncan and Kathy Gage of Florida, with sons Michael, Scott and wife Jenny with great-grand daughter Lucy River, David and Debbie Gage of Lousiana, with grandson Daniel Bolter, and Daniel Gage of Whitby.
She grew up and schooled in Kingston on the Thames, England. Prior to WWII she was evacuated to Canada.
She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corp and was dispatched to London, England, where she served in WWII.
As a CWAC she collected personal items and letters home, for the fallen Canadian soldiers.
It was here, in London England, that she met her future husband John O. Gage.
After the War they married and first settled in Ancaster, Ontario, later to move several times in Ontario and Quebec.
Doreen dedicated her life to her family.
She was very artistically talented and enjoyed oil painting and china painting.
She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband, at the base of a Canadian Red Maple tree, that they both planted at the Cataracquai Cemetery in Kingston Ontario.
