Makepeace HughMAKEPEACE, Hugh Russell - Born on the family farm near Basswood, Manitoba on November 25, 1926. After a full life, passed on at Rideaucrest home in Kingston, Ontario on November 5, 2017.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Finlay). Father of Drew J. of Penticton, B.C., Reid J. (Lyn Taft) of Athens, Ontario and Paul F. (Cristen Fidler) of Ottawa, Ontario. Dear Grandpa of Samuel and Isaac of Athens.

Hugh was educated in Basswood Public School. After teaching for several years in elementary schools in Manitoba, he received his university education at United College, Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. He taught French at LaSalle Secondary School for 18 years as Head of Languages, retiring in 1986.

Alan was the loving husband and soulmate of Ruth (nee Umetsu) for over 50 years, a devoted father to Shawne (Tom), Kyle (Ashley), Courtney (Lucas) and Meredith (Richard) and a proud grandfather to Ryan, Grayson, Levi, Isla, and Jax.

George was a farmer. He was a winemaker, a gardener, a beekeeper and a restauranteur too. But his most important job was Papou (which is grandfather in Greek). "Take a picture of me with my granddaughter Sia and post it on Facebook" he said with excitement to his daughter-in-law one Sunday morning.

George Doulas was born on May 1st, 1941 in a small remote village called Kandila in Arkadia, Greece. He was named after his paternal grandfather. He was the eldest of four children and considered a bright student at the local school.

David was the second-generation owner and licensed funeral director of Scotland Funeral Home, originally founded by his father Walter Scotland, which has been serving the Elgin and surrounding community for 50 years.

Born in Finch, Ontario in 1953, to parents Walter and Irene Scotland, the family eventually settled in Elgin in 1967 when Walter purchased the Campbell funeral home. Dave was a prominent, well-respected, professional who demonstrated unwavering dedication to the care of his families. 


Wilkins RosieWILKINS, Cynthia Rosemary 'Rosie' to all who knew her - (1951 - 2017) - God has taken another angel from us far to early on November 1, 2017.

For the past three years Rosie put forth a courageous battle against cancer. Never once letting the effects of forty chemo and seven radiation treatments change her bright and cheery outlook on life, family or friends. Despite the horrific side effects taking their toll she never failed to greet everyone with a smile and “I’m doing good”.

The sense of loss is overwhelming to all who knew her.
