Teed MarjTEED, Dorothy 'Marj' (nee Jones) - Passed away on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 86.

Beloved wife of the late Gerald for 62 years. Cherished mother of Terri (David) Wood, Brenda (Alex) Koeslag, Reg (Dale) Teed, Vicki Teed, Gary (the late Carole) Teed, and Cheryl (Wes) Olsen.

Loving grandmother of Terri Lynne (the late Darryl), Adam, Kathryn (Jeff), Tom (Malissa), Cynthia, Paul (Robyn), Natalie (Adam), Darryl (Elaine), the late Kyle, Tylene (Kyle), Keith and Kimberly. Great grandmother of Emerson, Trystan, Kiera, Mason, Desmond, Maxwell, Demi, Tyrus, and Arrabella.

Predeceased by her brother James (Donna) Jones and her parents John and Mary Jones. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and friends. 

 

MARSH, Thomas Melvin 'Mel' - Passed away on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 at the St. Catharines Hospital at the age of 89.

Beloved husband of the late Jewel. Cherished father of Allen (Lori) Marsh, Darcy (Carol) Marsh and Marilyn Marsh. Loving Gramps of Mike, Jeff (Heidi), Renee (Shane) and Mallory. Great Grandpa of Avery.

Mel was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be sadly missed by his nephew Ronnie (Flynn) Hebert and his fishing buddy, Guy Papineau. He was employed for over 30 years at the St. Lawrence Seaway.

 

BIRTLES, Mary (nee Parker), SRN, FPNP – Longtime resident of the Village of Queenston passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital with family by her side, in her 89th year.

Wife for 65 years of the late Peter Birtles (March 7, 2017).

Loving Mom of Stephen (Betty) Birtles, Alison (Jim) Fraser, Sheila (Jack) Karr and her late infant daughter Mary Birtles (1953). Cherished Grandma of Stephen and Alysha Birtles, Sarah Holford, Graeme Fraser, the late Graeme Birtles, and the late Rachel Birtles. Great-grandmother of Cody Holford.

Longo CoraLONGO, Incoronata 'Cora' - Passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2017 with her loving family by her side at the age of 100.

Croy CarlCROY, Dr. Carl Roger, DVM – (March 18, 1946 – March 23, 2017) - Passed away suddenly at Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Born in Stonewall, Manitoba and raised in New Denver, British Columbia, Carl studied veterinary medicine at the University of Guelph where he met his life partner and classmate, Anne (neé McLeish). Carl practiced in Toronto and Brooklin, Ontario before opening his own practice in St. Catharines.

In retirement (Niagara-on-the-Lake, followed by Kingston in 2004), Carl pursued his interests in heritage restoration of limestone dwellings, landscaping and music.

 

Forintos MonikaFORINTOS, Monika – (1953 - 2017) - It is with a broken heart that Denes Forintos announces the passing of Monika, his beloved wife of 46 years on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Survived by her daughter Monika Forintos of Calgary and her sister Metta Strlendorff of Hungary. Predeceased by her parents Vldr and Eve Strlendorff.

 

KUDRICK, Nellie - Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Wednesday March 22, 2017. Nellie Kudrick in her 88th year.

She will be sadly missed by her many loving nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

Nellie was very active with the Russian Mission Society and was a long standing member of Calvary Church (Scott Street, St. Catharines).

 

Cassan AudreyCASSAN, Audrey Margaret (Ainsworth) - Of Port Colborne, Ontario, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2017.

Born in Toronto on April 6, 1926, she was the eldest daughter of Ethel (Hare) and Clifford Ainsworth. Audrey is survived by Steven and Michele Cassan, Marnie and Brian Lambie, Judy Cassan, MaryAnn Cassan, and Audrey’s baby sister Melba her husband John Blanchard. She also has 5 nieces and nephews, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by the love of her life, Cameron (1986), son Bradley (1993), son Greg (2015), her brother Ross (1993) and his wife Dorie (1994).

 

Sullivan BrianSULLIVAN, Brian - Passed peacefully at Hotel Dieu Shaver on March 22, 2017 at the age of 84.

Cherished husband of 58 years to Eileen. Loving father of Nancy General, Maureen (Guy) Sullivan, Teresa (Ken) Sullivan, and Timothy. Adoring Papa of Alex, Alyse, Hannah, and Sinisa.

Also survived by brothers-in-law Kenneth (Dorothy) O'Brien, Tom Hamilton and sisters-in-law Anne O'Brien and Phyllis O'Brien. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his siblings John (Marguerite) Sullivan, Patricia (Tom) Glinski, and Gretchen (Richard) Wilson and brother-in-laws Neil (Rhoda) O'Brien, Richard O'Brien and Jack O'Brien and sister-in-law Mary Hamilton.

LATKA, William Charles 'Bill' - Peacefully at McNally House Hospice on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Helen Latka (nee Prevost). Loving father of Louise Tebworth (David) and Donna Reilly (Rick). Cherished grandfather of many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his twin brother John Latka (Lorna). Predeceased by sister Eleanor Pilon (the late Harvey). He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Lahaie JohnLAHAIE, John Richard - With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John on Tuesday, March 21, 2016 at the age of 53.

Predeceased by his father John Wilfred (2006). Sadly missed by his family: daughter Kaiyla Lahaie (Chris) and their son Theo, mother Joan, and siblings Joanne (Frank) Capano, Ron Lahaie, Kathy (David) Pasternack, and Antoinette Lahaie.

HIGGINS, Alexander D.W. 'Sandy' - An honorable soldier died on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Douglas Memorial Hospital, Fort Erie, at the age of 81.

Beloved husband of the late Caroline (2007). Loving father of Lorrain Hayes and Dale (Kim). Cherished Papa of Richele, Ryan, Corey and Cody. Dear brother of Shirley Wilde and Alda Burbidge. Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by sisters Colleen and Mary Lou.

Sandy was in the Canadian Military until 1968, thereafter returning to Niagara Falls to work at Canada Post as a letter carrier until his retirement.

 

Oreto WilmaORETO, Wilma Jean (nee Cartmer) - Wilma came into the world on October 3, 1937 and left this world for new adventures on March 21, 2017 at the Niagara District Hospital.

Wilma is survived by her nieces Linda, Joanne, Cathy, Debbie and their families along with numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Fred (2008), her parents George and Grace Cartmer, brother William, sister in law Barbara and her niece Sandy.

She is survived on her husband's side by her brother-in-law Paul, and nephews and nieces Tony, Louise, Mike, Kathy, Maria and Paul Jr. and their families.

 

Philippe CecilePHILIPPE, Cecile (nee Giroux) - (June 16, 1919 - March 21 2017) -

Mom was born in St. Luc Co. Dorchester, Quebec in 1919. Her parents were Joseph Giroux and Delia Gagnon. She grew up in L’Alverne Co. Bonaventure, Gaspesie during the depression where she was rich in family and love.

She and her beloved husband, the late Leonard Philippe (1980), moved to Welland in 1953 looking for a better life to raise their growing family of six. Cecile has gone to join her husband as well as her loving grandson, John-Micheal Martin (2006) and her best friend of fifty years, Lena Stuart.

She is survived by her children, Jacques (Marcella), Diane Martin (George Janiszewski), Gaston (Teresa), Solange Woronchak (Al), Michel (Corina) and Monique (David Tonigussi) and her son-in-law John Martin.

 

LANGENDOEN, Bastian Arie - Was called home by his Lord & Saviour on Monday, March 20th, 2017 at the age of 88.

Survived by his wife Jean Langendoen. Predeceased by his first wife Adriaantje Anna "Jane" Witte, daughter-in-law Jocelyn and grandchildren William and Teddy.

Dear father of John (Karen), Andy (Rhea), Ernie (Betsy), Don (Kathy), Jennifer (Thom), Chris (Ted), Sharon (Arnold). Blessed with 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Remembered by brothers Cor, Andy, John, Ron and sister Nell. Predeceased by brothers Arie, Evert, Bert, Bouwe, Peter.

 

Albano JamesALBANO, James Vincent – Passed away, suddenly, at the Welland Hospital on Monday, March 20, 2017 in his 70th year.

James will be sadly missed by his dear friends Roch, Robert, Richard and Angelo.

Rigby DaveRIGBY, Dave 'Chick' - Former Sports Editor of The Niagara Falls Review, passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Monday March 20, 2017 at the age of 69.

Predeceased by his parents Charles and Celia and his brother Edward 'Ted."

He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended families and friends.

 

McGlashan MacMcGLASHAN, Malcolm Allan 'Mac' - (January 25, 1931 – March 20, 2017) - Sadly, Peter and Edward Semenuk announce the death of their longtime friend, Malcolm Allan McGlashan, on March 20, 2017 at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie.

Mac was born at the family farm on Foss Road in Fenwick, the only surviving child of Charles (1977) and Stella (Rice) McGlashan (1936).

He was predeceased by his sisters and their husbands, Eleanor Guenther (Howard), Jean Lyons (William), Catherine McGlashan and Mary Haist (Clint), as well as his sister Rose (1936) and his brother Charles (1922). Mac also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Wingfield DonWINGFIELD, Donald James - Born in Dunnville in 1931, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2017, with his loving family by his side.

After marrying his public school sweetheart Elizabeth Weiderick nearly 63 years ago this year, they moved to Oakville while Don worked in Toronto for close to 35 years.

Don leaves behind his wife Liz, 3 children Debra (Paul) Walker of Kelowna, BC, John (Nicky) Wingfield of Dunnville, ON, and James (Kim) Wingfield of Burlington, ON.
