HOUNSOME, Jean Ann – Passed away peacefully with her daughter Ann at her side at Royal Rose Place on January 18, 2017 at the age of 84 after a long illness fought with great courage and dignity.

LOEWEN, Victor - (1934 - 2017) - Victor Loewen passed away peacefully on January 18, 2017 after a year of difficult health challenges.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marian; his children Karen and Stafford Jonas, Donald and Evelyn Loewen, and Lorelei and Randy Pauls; and his grandchildren Natalia Loewen and Matthew Zhou, David Loewen; Andrew, Richard and Sophie Pauls.
Victor was born in Berezovka, Ukraine on September 30, 1934. After a childhood that included years spent moving across Europe as a post-WWII refugee, he and his parents moved to Virgil, Ontario in 1948. He was a teacher for many years at Eden Christian College, and after retiring from his teaching position he served in a pastoral role at Scott Street Mennonite Brethren Church, Orchard Park Bible Church, and Cornerstone Community Church.

Elmer received his Diploma of Imperial College of Tropical Agriculture in Trinidad and later completed his MSc and PhD in Entomology from McGill University. Elmer enjoyed working closely with the farmers in the apple industry and fellow scientists around the world in Biological Pest Management, during his time at Vineland Research Station -- so much so, that he could often be found in the orchard with his trademark straw hat.

She is survived by her four siblings and their families: Charles Cross, Elizabeth Duchene, Rebecca Hammond, and Alison Cross-Nicholls. Laura was born in Hamilton at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Laura was a longtime fundraiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She made her home in Toronto where she worked in information technology support.
