Martin WilliamMARTIN, Dr. William Jack – It is with sadness that we announce that our father died at Millennium Trail Manor on September 8, 2016 at the age of 94 years, after a brief illness.

Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Martin (December 2015).

Lovingly remembered by his children, Louise (Mike) Stewart, Jan Craig, and Scott (Mary Anne) Martin. Cherished grandfather of Kyle (Candace) Stewart, Craig (Meg) Stewart, Lindsay Stewart, Michelle Craig and Ryan Martin and great-grandfather of Maya and Reid Stewart. He will be greatly missed by his sister-in-law Ruth McDowell and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in Calgary and remained a proud westerner throughout his life. He moved east for medical school at the University of Toronto but left for service in the RCAF when WWII began. After the war he returned to university and emerged with two wonderful achievements – marrying Dorothy Bielby and graduating as a physician. Dad and Mom returned to her hometown of Niagara Falls where Dad practiced family medicine until joining Cyanamid of Canada as Medical Director in 1952. He had a long and fulfilling career at Cyanamid, most proud of being a founding member of the Canadian Formaldehyde Institute.

Dad had many joys in life – curling and fishing with his Medical buddies, golfing, looking after the house and pool on Clare Crescent, his model trains, but most of all spending time with his family. Dad was a very kind man, gracious and grateful to the end. We will miss his sense of humour and the way he always had time for everyone.

Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Millennium Trail Manor who supported and enhanced Dad's life for the past two and a half years.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at Southminster United Church, 6801 Hagar Avenue, Niagara Falls on Thursday, September 15th. Visitation at 10 a.m. to be followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m.

In memory of Dad, donations to Millennium Trail Manor, the Recreation and Palliative Care Programs, would be appreciated by his family and may be made through Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, NF.
