Castle RoyCASTLE, Roy - At the age of 95, Roy Castle died peacefully at Northland Pointe, Port Colborne on Sunday, October 9, 2016.

He was born in Stockport, England and came to Canada with his parents, Leonard and Elsie Castle, at the age of 8.

He is survived by his wife, Carroll McKim and his children, Karen Kitchen, Heather (Brian) Kilpatrick and Brian (Patti) Castle. Also survived by his step-children, Lori McKim-Lang (Gerard), Scott (Annie) McKim, and Darren McKim.

He has 11 grandchildren – Shannon, Brandon, Lianne, Jeffery, Carli, Dustin, Robert, Ian, Anna, Mackenzie, and Coneitia. Also nine great-grandchildren – Jack, Julia, Piper, Noah, Chloe, Scarlett, Abby, Kadence, and Maverick.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Gascho, daughter-in-law Janet Benner, son-in-law Harley Kitchen and step-daughter-in-law Kathryn McKague.

He was a veteran of WW2 in the Canadian Intelligence Corps in England. He was a gentleman and a scholar, an educator who loved to teach. He taught in a one-room schoolhouse until he enlisted in the army. He taught at Port Colborne High School and was Principal at Centennial High School in Welland until his retirement in 1979.

He loved music and was a member of the Robert Wood Singers and the Harbour Lite Singers. He was a life-long member of Community of Christ and ministered to many, until his superannuation at age 80.

Roy’s family will receive friends at the Armstrong funeral home, Port Colborne on Wednesday, October 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 13th at Central United Church, 30 Delhi Street, Port Colborne at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow.

If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society of the Niagara Region.
