Hawley JoanneHAWLEY, Joanne Susan - Wife of Hugh Joseph Hawley for 47 years , Loving Mother of sons Hugh Jr. who passed in January 2015 & Matt.

On October 8th, 2016 at 11.02 PM, she passed away peacefully at home with me, her husband. Her long battle with cancer is over.

She was a selfless person to the very end. Her final moments & words were still concern for others. She asked that my son & I get along.

Joanne retired in April 2011 after working 45 years. On Dec. 23rd. 2013, she was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer & told to get her affairs in order.

Her life became a living nightmare going through the cancer treatment that was made available to her at the Walker Family Cancer Centre in St. Catharines.

For 33 months she fought without once complaining, no matter how bad the chemotherapy made her feel. She put up with everything they threw at her.

On Oct. 6 at 9.30 a.m., she went into physical distress. The in-care nurses Tracy, Jade & myself spent the next few days keeping her comfortable.

She spent her last days sleeping in a sedated state with pain management. She did not suffer in any way. For this I am so grateful. Hopefully she will rest in peace.

We were true soul mates from the start in 1968. I have heard the saying that sometimes in a couple, it is the one who dies first that is the lucky one, with the pain I am feeling today, I now completely understand the meaning of the phrase. I will miss her every day til I too pass on.
No matter what anyone else thought, she was my babe & still is.
