Szockyj SergeiSZOCKYJ, Sergei – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Sergei. He passed away peacefully in his Fort Erie home on Monday, October 10, 2016, in his 90th year.

Beloved father of Julie (David), Elizabeth (Jim), Alex, Christina Jennie and George (Melanie). Cherished grandfather of Brittany, Brandy, Emma, Geana, David, Jesse, Madison and Megan. He is survived by his life-long friend and former wife Eva and his sister Mary.

After emigrating from the Ukraine to Canada after WWII, Sergei worked for many years, retiring from General Motors and his family fruit orchard in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

In his later years, he enjoyed playing Bingo and the slot machines in Niagara Falls.

The family will receive friends at the Hulse & English funeral home, St. Catharines on Friday, October 14th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm.

Funeral service will be held at ST. GEORGE'S UKRAINIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 8 Augusta Avenue, St. Catharines on Saturday, October 15th at 10:00 am with internment to follow in NOTL.

lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Fort Erie Memorial Bench Program in the care of the town of Fort Erie would be appreciated by the family.
