Volpatti RomeoVOLPATTI, Romeo - Passed away peacefully at St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday February 2, 2017 in his 77th year.

Dear brother of  Antonietta  Volpatti, and brother-in-law of Elvira Volpatti and Selina Volpatti.  Lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

Romeo was predeceased by his father Antonio, mother Romana, his brothers Dante and his wife Ines 'Nellie', Eneo and Adolfo, his sister Anita and her husband Giacomo and his brother-in-law Gaspare.

Romeo was a master craftsman, a skilled jeweller (gemologist) and watch repairer (horologist), who learned his trade in Italy.

After being stricken with polio at the age of two, Romeo was known for his positive outlook on life and his ability to conquer all of his many challenges. His legacy and lessons to all of us, were his unwavering courage, his resolve and his ability to stay positive under the most trying of circumstances.  He was an extremely devout Catholic, and knew that his favourite saint, Padre Pio, always looked out for him and for those he loved.

In his own mind, and to his relatives and friends, he was a master chef and a master of many other things. Many will remember him from Volpatti Jewellers, Romeo’s Fine Jewellery, and by the one word that describes him best, ‘fantastico’. Romeo was one of the founding members of the Italo-Canadian Centennial Club and a longtime member of the Fogolar Furlan.

Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls for visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.  Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 3 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

In memory of Romeo, donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by his family.
