Speranzini SallySPERANZINI, Sanda 'Sally. (nee Zukiwski) - Passed away peacefully on Friday February 3, 2017 at the age of 90 with beloved husband Ugo (Spink) at her side.

Loving mother and mother-in-law of Kathy and Geoffrey Hassell, Bob and Irene Speranzini, Joe Speranzini and Irene Payk, and Mike and Lynn Speranzini.

Cherished grandmother of Kristina, Reina (husband Steve Ditta), Nikki, John, Sasha, Alana (husband Travis Moir), Nick, Stephen and Matthew. Dear sister of Anna, and of the late Helen, Sadie and Mary.

Sally is fondly remembered by family and friends for her love of life, kind generous spirit and joyful nurturing approach to life.

Sally was raised in Willingdon, Alberta and moved to Hamilton, Ontario where, as a young adult, she trained and worked as a nurse before moving to Welland with her beloved husband Spink. They started their family and worked together in their business, the Rose Villa Inn, where she developed a passion for great cooking that was enjoyed by many. A few favourites were her prime rib dinners, seafood feasts on Christmas Eve, perogies, meatballs and most importantly her signature “butter tarts”. Her favourite pastimes included dancing with Spink and playing bridge with friends.

In the early 70’s, Sally returned to nursing, while Spink was teaching at Notre Dame High School. Later in life she spent hours with her grandchildren many times dancing and singing “today we are so happy” and letting all know that “love is the answer”.

Sally and Spink together donated generously to the Welland Hospital Foundation and in their retirement volunteered many hours of their time feeding the elderly and sick at the Extended Care Unit which became her own home.

Friends are invited to visit at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, Welland on Thursday, February 9th from 4 to 7 p.m., starting with Vigil Prayers at 4 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish Community of St. Kevin, 303 Niagara Street, Welland on Friday, February 10th at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region in memory of Sally Speranzini would be appreciated by the family.

Many thanks to Dr. Ali and the staff at the Welland Extended Care Unit (ECU) for their outstanding compassion and care.
