Millar MarilynMILLAR, Marilyn Dorothy (nee Sweeney) – It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn, who left us peacefully and with family by her side on Sunday, February 5, 2017, in her 74th year.

Beloved wife and best friend to William ‘Bill’ for 50 years. (56 years if you count from the time of their first date at the spring prom – which she did!)

Cherished mother to Diane (Christopher) and David (Christine). Special “Gacie” and “Grams” to Thomas, Matthew, Zoe and Malcolm.She will be sadly missed by her sisters Patricia, Barbara and Virginia, and
sister-in-law Lottie.

Marilyn will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, her nursing friends, and the friends who made up her camping family for so many years.

She is predeceased by her infant son Stephen, parents Vincent and Marian, her beloved sister Anne, and her beloved sister-in-law Betty.

Marilyn was proud to be a Registered Nurse, graduating from the Brockville Psychiatric Hospital, and most recently working at Portal Village Retirement Home in Port Colborne. She was also a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend whose passing leaves wonderful memories, millions of smiles, and many tears.

We are forever grateful for the wonderful personal care Marilyn received from staff provided through the Hamilton/Niagara/Haldimand/Brant CCAC. Special thanks also to the physicians and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the Walker Family Cancer Centre and St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton for their compassion and professionalism throughout Marilyn’s courageous battle with cancer.

In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes cremation has taken place. Her family will receive friends at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME, Thorold on Thursday, February 9 from 7 – 9 p.m.  Visitation will continue on Friday, February 10 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon. A service to celebrate her life will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow.

Memorial donations to the Juravinski Hospital or Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) will be appreciated by her family.
