Potts ShirleyPOTTS, Shirley (nee Secord) - It is with heavy hearts but with profound thanksgiving for a life well lived that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley Potts on Thursday, March 2, 2017 in her 91st year.

Shirley passed away the same way she lived each day of her life...with dignity, faith and surrounded by the love of her family.

Beloved wife of the late Lew Potts (2002). Cherished mother of Leslie Goodman (Wayne) and the late Jeff Potts.

Proud and loving grandmother of Cindy Douglas (late Kelly), Wade Goodman (Tracey), Rod Potts (Paul), Adam Potts, David Potts and great-grandmother of Courtney Douglas, Hayden Goodman, Ashley, Amanda, Sydney, Christine and Amber. Also survived by four great-great grandchildren.

Dear sister of Dorothy Walker (Harold) and their family, all of Sault St. Marie and sister-in-law of Sandra Secord (late Bryson) and Nora Easterbrook (late Harold). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Guided by her deep faith and belief in the importance of family and community, she lived a full and rich life. She always spoke fondly of her wonderful church family at Fonthill Baptist Church and her many friends from her home at Pelham Town Square. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed playing cards and knitting.

Above all else, Shirley treasured her family. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was immensely proud of Courtney and Hayden and their accomplishments. Although she will be terribly missed, her legacy of love will live on through the many lives she touched.

A service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at Fonthill Baptist Church, 1414 South Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday, March 8th at 1 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners, or to the Sick Kids Foundation through the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland who are in care of the funeral arrangements.

Shirley’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Nurses from the Welland Hospital Emergency Department for their kindness and compassion.
