Tokar WalterTOKAR, Wolodymyr 'Walter' - Passed away on March 15th, 2017 at GNGH in Niagara Falls at the age of 93.

Born at Village of Snizhkiv, district of Kharkiv in Ukraine, Jan. 6, 1924. In 1944 he relocated to Germany and in May of 1949 he moved to Canada to work for Ontario Hydro as a construction labourer and Steelman, first at Pine Portage and later at the Queenston Generating Station, Sir Adam Beck #2. After the project was completed he began to work for Burgess Battery Company and Ohio Brass Company in Niagara Falls in 1959 as a tow-motor operator and also worked for the City of Niagara Falls.

Walter was a member of St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Church in St. Catharines.

Walter is predeceased by his wife Ludmila (nee Stefan) Tokar (1985), and his sons Leonid "Lonny" (1986) and Taras "Terry" (2013) and is survived by his 3 children; Nadia (Pat) Davidson of Hamilton Ontario, Maria Hiott of Hamilton, Wolodymyr "Walter" (Gerry) Tokar of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Walter is also survived by seven grandchildren; Andrew, Sarah, Michael, Neil, Jeffrey, Tara-Lynn, Amanda and 4 great-grandchildren; Liam, Kean-Leonid, Kalysta, & Hunter

The family will receive visitors at HETHERINGTON AND DEANS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5176 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls on Sunday March 19th from 5-7 pm. A Funeral will be held in the Chapel on Monday March 20th at 10:30am with Interment to follow at Lundy's Lane Cemetery.

Donations to St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Church would be appreciated by the family.
