Gobbi FredGOBBI, Frederick James 'Fred' - Passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017 at the NHS-Welland Site, in his 80th year.

Beloved husband of Marie (Nancy) for 55 years. Father of Christopher Gobbi, and Candace (Rob) Jones and proud grandfather of twins Zack and Tim Jones.

Survived by brothers John and Lou Gobbi and sister Mary Lou Kiraly (Tony) Cipolla and brothers in law Bud (Sally) Jones and Jim (Carole Anne) Jones and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents Luigi and Helen Gobbi, nieces JoAnne and Paula, nephews Jeff and John and brother-in-law Don Jones.

Many memories were shared with Pat and Robert Vaillancourt travelling on mystery tours and far off vacations. Also who could forget the laughs at the cabin in the Adirondack woods with Steve and Shirley Milo.

During his younger years, Fred would tool around in his 1957 green MGA sports car or march in the Lancers Pipe and Bugle Band while working at Garner’s Service Station. He enjoyed many gatherings with his Frat buddies from the East End.

Fred was a volunteer Crowland Fireman and coached soccer in Pelham. Fred was also Journeyman plumber and worked at Frank Fulop Plumbing and Heating and later retired from Atlas Specialty Steel. He was a very gifted man until 25 years ago when Parkinson’s Disease took over his life.

The Gobbi family will receive friends at the Pleasantview Funeral Home, 2000 Merrittville Hwy, Thorold on Monday, March 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Vigil Prayers will be held at 2:30pm.

Funeral Mass with Devine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Parish, 50 Pelham Town Square, Fonthill, on Tuesday, March 21st at 10:30 am. In accordance with Fred’s wishes, cremation will follow. A private family Interment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parkinson Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
