Phelps JimPHELPS, James Kenneth 'Jim' - Of Pelham, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the age of 82.

Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (2014). Dear father of Vicky (Steve Smith), Gary (Jackie) and Jeff (Lisa). Proud grandfather of Avery, Zoe, Jake, Matt, Lucas, Nick, Carson, Bella and Walker. Also predeceased by his parents Ken and Elsie; his brother Jack (the late Fran). Jim will be sadly missed by his dear companion Margaret.

He was born June 25, 1934 in St. Catharines. He began his career as a firefighter on Canada’s civil defence fire crew. He dedicated his life to the fire service. Jim served the communities of St. Catharines and Pelham for 57 years. He retired from from St. Catharines as the Chief Fire Prevention Officer after 38 years.

He served the Pelham community as an acting Chief, District Chief and Chief, finally hanging up his helmet for the last time in August 2012.

Dad was always willing to lend a hand and will be sadly missed by his lifelong friends (OFC), his extended family and all who knew him.

The Phelps family will receive visitors at PLEASANTVIEW FUNERAL HOME. 2000 Merrittville Highway. Fonthill on Saturday, April 29th from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital. We would like to thank Dr. McMillan and the nursing staff of Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital for the excellent care Dad received.
