Russell LynRUSSELL, Eric Lynden 'Lyn' – (July 27, 1944 - July 12, 2017) - After a spirited and courageous battle, Lyn passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home.

An inspiration to us all, we take comfort in remembering how his thoughtful and kindhearted gestures continued on through a difficult fight and now he is finally at rest.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Elizabeth, his two children, Stephen (Karina) and Katie, to whom he devoted endless time and encouragement. And recently, he became the most proud ‘Papa’ to his precious grandson Lucas.

Lyn taught at Bridgeview Public School then Centennial Secondary School where he spent over 30 years teaching mathematics and co-operative education.

Lyn was an active volunteer with orienteering, ski club and coaching basketball. He had a passion for baseball and was named top fastball pitcher several times. Lyn also loved the outdoors and shared his summers fishing, boating and hiking on Manitoulin Island with family and friends.

Lyn and his family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his many friends for their support over the past year. A special thank you to his nurses Linda and Meighan for their compassionate care.

Lyn’s family will receive visitors at Pleasantview funeral home, 2000 Merrittville Highway, Thorold on Friday, July 14th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Walker Family Cancer Centre. Better yet, take the next opportunity to pass on an act of kindness in Lyn’s name or make a donation to a charity of your choice.
