Poitras GemmaPOITRAS, Gemma (nee Brochu) - It is with the utmost sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mom Gemma Poitras (nee Brochu). She joined our dad Romuald (1975) on Monday, October  9, 2017 at the age of 90.

She leaves behind her devoted children Conrad Poitras (Barb), Jeannine deRuiter, Theresa Little, Monique Lallouet, Annette Poitras (Doug) and Jean-Claude Poitras.

She will be forever missed by her grandchildren Jason, Vanessa, Jessica, Christopher, Eric, Ryan, Benjamin, Ashley, Ronnie Max, Quinn and her three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gemma was predeceased by her two brothers Leopold and Claude, and is survived by brother Guy and sisters Jeanne-Marie and Denise.

After arriving in Ontario in 1944, Gemma worked in retail, as well as supply teaching, and excelled at her favourite job as mom. Once her kids were safe in school she worked in many fields including Walker’s, Port Colborne Pharmacy, Singer’s Sewing Centre and Lighthearts to name a few. There was no shortage of lifelong, as well as new, friends.

Family and friends will be received at Davidson funeral home, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne, on Saturday October 14th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Celebration of Gemma's life will be held in the Davidson Chapel at 1 p.m., with a private family interment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Ronald McDonald House would be appreciated by her family.
