For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

DiFRUSCIO, Carmela (Pepe) - Born on February 11th, 1936 in Nusco, Avellino, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1953.

Passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 10th, 2018 at Hospice Niagara in her 83rd year.

Beloved wife of Armand for 63 years. Loving mother of Angelo (Diane), Flora and Tony (Marlene).

Dear grandmother of Giulio (Ashley), Mark (Sabrina), Sera, Adam, Cassandra, Andrew and Nicholas. Great grandmother of Leo. Survived by sisters Nancy (Jerry) Dellavechia & Joanne (Vic) Gigante and brother Peter (Maureen).

Predeceased by parents Vito & Fiorina, sister Emelia and great niece Shelley. Carmela will be missed by her sisters-in-law, many nieces & nephews and cousins.

Her passion was cleaning, cooking, baking, gardening and entertaining her family.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Club Roma. Thank you to Dr. Rose, Walker Family Cancer Centre, Hospice Niagara and Father Bill Derousie.

The family will receive friends and family at the Haine funeral home, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30pm.

Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (316 Queenston St, St. Catharines) on Thursday, June 14th at 11:00am. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Research Society would be appreciated by the family.
