Husband for 65 years of Mary. Loving Dad of Stephen (Betty) Birtles, Alison (Jim) Fraser, Sheila (Jack) Karr and his late infant daughter Mary Birtles(1953). Cherished Grandad of Stephen and Alysha Birtles, Sarah Holford, Graeme Fraser, the late Graeme Birtles, and the late Rachel Birtles. Great-grandfather of Cody Holford.

Peter retired as a proud member of the Niagara Regional Police Force and was a 35 year member of the International Police Association.

NIGRO, Andrea May (née De Carolis) - Passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie, ON at the age of 67. She was born in Buffalo, NY where she lived until her marriage.

Andrea leaves behind her devoted husband Armando. She was the proud mother of Marie Victoria and Louis Alexander (Mindie), and the loving grandmother of Charity Rose and Aiden Mataeo.

Andrea was predeceased by her parents Alex De Carolis (who was one of the founders of the Allentown Art Festival in Buffalo, NY) and Julie De Carolis-Eckelman (née Cologgi).

Smith DavidSMITH, David George Joseph - Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6th, 2017 at the Port Colborne Hospital at the age of 61.

He will be missed by his loving children Blake (Dannah) and Wesley, and their mother Brenda. Also survived by his brother Ivan (Eileen), sister Doraine (Keith) Harvey, nieces Rachael and Ruth-Anne, and Eldred's wife Annette.


FORSYTH, Edythe 'Jean' - R.N., P.H.N. - Jean passed away on March 6th, 2017 at the Welland Hospital, in her 100th year.

Predeceased by her husband Alex, she is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (David), and son Bob (Lydia). She had four grandchildren: Daryl, Blair, Hannah and Holly.

Jean was a graduate of Mack Nursing School in 1939, and served in the Armed Forces during World War II. Later on she was a Senior Public Health Nurse with the Niagara Region, and a longtime resident of Thorold. Since 2010 Jean lived at Lookout Ridge in Fonthill.


Campbell JoanCAMPBELL, Joan Maryon (nee Donald) - Passed away on March 6th, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 83.

Predeceased by her husband Robert (2014), her daughters Joanne & Alison, her parents Grant & Vera Donald (nee Morrison) & her sister Eleanor (Traven) Reed.

Sadly missed by her sister Shirley (the late William) Martin. Beloved grandmother to Bob (Mandy) Fenton & Roger (Amanda) Paquette.

Joan was a legal secretary for over 25 years at McBurney & Durdan.


McGregor DonMcGREGOR, Sgt. Donald Hart - (1923 – 2017) - Formerly of Regina, SK, Don passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017.

Beloved husband for 48 years of Claudette (nee Lacroix). Loving father of Clinton (Sheelagh), Douglas, Laurel McLaren, and Sandra Barber. Don is survived by 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his brother and sister in law; Gerald and Anne McGregor and his parents; Roy and Myrtle McGregor. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Don was a veteran of WWII where he served overseas, and a Sergeant with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 30 years. He was also an avid Pianist.


Felgner KathyFELGNER, Kathy Jane (Charron) – With courage and undefeatable love, Kathy passed away peacefully Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton, with family by her side.

Born August 10, 1954, Hamilton, Ontario, Kathy was in her 63rd year.

She’ll be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her husband Axel Felgner, sons Eric (Jenn) and Jeff Felgner and daughter-in-law Theresa. Kathy tremendously cherished her granddaughters, Julia and Kyra Felgner. They’ll always remember Nana as the coolest and funniest ever.

Martz AlbertMARTZ, Albert - Age 80, of St Catharines, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017.

Albert was born in Halmbruch, Germany to Jakob Maretzki and Alma (nee Fenske) on 5 April 1936. He married Elizabeth Reder on 5 October 1957 in Hamilton. He owned several businesses, Hi Grade Heating, Café Vienna, was a realtor with Rogers Real Estate and an estate manager.

His passions were travelling and cycling. Albert and Elizabeth travelled together extensively across North America, Europe and the Caribbean. He cycled a total of 348,000 kms, which included solo rides across the United States at 55 years and Canada at 71 years.


PARKER, Rance - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and best friend Natalie Onaczyszyn on Sunday March 5, 2017 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 69.

Born in Crowland in 1923, she was predeceased by her parents Sidor and Dorothy Crouch, brothers Philip, William and Fred Crouch, sister Rose Magnus, brother-in-law John Magnus and sister-in-law Krishna Crouch.


Deering CarolDEERING, Caroline Audrey (nee REGIER) - Surrounded by her family, Carol passed into the arms of her Saviour on March 5, 2017 in Toronto.

Carol was born to Al and Helen Regier in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on July 17, 1939. Together with her sister Rita and brother James, the family lived in various locations throughout western Canada during her formative years.

Carol met Lloyd at church in Saskatoon and later moved to Calgary to work for The British American Oil Company. In 1957, they were married in Calgary, where their three oldest children (Nola, Lowell and Dale) were born. Due to Lloyd’s work, the family moved through a series of global locations including Houston, Atlanta (where their youngest child Wayne was born) and Toronto.


DYCK, Eda Serafina - Passed away suddenly, surrounded by her husband Jake, eldest daughter Jill and dearest and best friend of Jill, Maureen Anderson, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday March 5, 2017 at the age of 78.

Beloved wife of Jake for 56 years. Loving “Momoli” of Jill Tristen and the late Stacey Dyck (2006).

Survived by sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Thanks to Judy and Kenny, Sandra, Robert and Debbie and many close friends for their help and support throughout these difficult days. Predeceased by her parents Frances and Joseph and brother Rennie, all of Coleman, Alberta.


SIC, Brian - Passed away while surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Belleville General Hospital in his 49th year.

Beloved son of Jean (nee Augustyn) and the late Peter (2014). Loving brother of Carol Mann (Paul Villalta).

Brian worked at Service Canada for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, fishing and hunting. He will be missed dearly by his family and his many friends in the Belleville/Bancroft areas.
