CURRIE, Marie Gertrude - May 24, 1922 - November 4, 2016 - Passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in her 95th year.

Marie Currie (nee Hiegh) was the beloved mother of the late Marion Hickerson and sister to Betty Bulger (John) and the late Edward (Ted) Hiegh (Barbara) of Cobourg.

Marie is a dear aunt to Ted Bulger (Barb), Valerie Taylor (Dick), Sharon Massey (Ron), Joey Bulger (Maxine), Paddy Bulger (deceased), Michael Bulger, Karen Stoker (Korr) and Brian Hiegh (Darlene).

Marie will also be missed greatly by all her great-nephews and great-nieces.

Marie was in the dentistry profession from 1951 to 1987 when she retired.

She resided at the Legion Village in Cobourg for the past 35 years and was on their board for 9 years.  She was also an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion of Cobourg branch for 34 years. She was very active in the Legion and was one of the great flag wavers supporting our Canadian troops throughout her life.

Her heart was kind and she would always have a great smile or nice word to say to everyone. She was a feisty lady who was very independent in her life and lived it to the fullest. There are no words that can express how greatly Marie will be missed by her family and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held at MacCoubrey Funeral Home, Cobourg on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1 p.m. with visitation from 12noon to 1 p.m. Interment at Cobourg followed with a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 133, Cobourg.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the R.C.L. Br. 133 Poppy Fund or a charity of your choice.
