She as born on the Louck's family farm on March 9th, 1923. (Parents - Roy and Mabel (Forde) Loucks.

Dorothy was the eldest of five. She had two brothers - the late Ron Loucks (Jean) and the late Jiggs Loucks (Goldie), and two sisters - Gerane McConnell (the late Bruce), and the late Barbara Morrison (the late Don).

She was a devoted grandmother of 11 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She grew up working on the family farm on the 5th Line of Seymour East while attending public school and high school in Campbellford.

In 1944, Dorothy married Morley Bennett and bought a farm at Devil's Valley. She helped Morley with the farm work and chores. She took great delight tending her hens, working in the garden and keeping on top of the domestic duties. raising five children - Garry, Glenn, Eric and Ann, meant lots of prepared meals, washing clothes and just keeping order in and around the house.

Dorothy loved to cook and her "kids" enjoyed eating!...those taffy tarts, cheesy potatoes, baked beans etc. YUMMY!. One was never allowed to leave after a visit without coffee and goodies.

In later years after the family had left the "nest", Dorothy had time to belong to local organizations: namely the Campbellford Horticultural Society, the Ladies Aid at Burnbrae, Seymour East Woman's Institute and the Campbellford Ladies' Fair Board.

After almost 94 years, her family believe that God has been good to her. She has entrusted to them her many talents, knowledge and wisdom for which they are truly thankful.

The family will receive friends at the Weaver Family Funeral Home, Campbellford on Friday, February 24th, 2017 from 7-9p.m. Service will be held from St. Andrews Burnbrae Church on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at 11a.m. with visitation from 10a.m. - 11a.m. Interment to take place in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Campbellford Memorial Hospital, St. Andrews Burnbrae Church or a Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.
