Gaudette LesterGAUDETTE, Lester John - December 15, 1936 - March 28, 2017 - Passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 28, 2017 in his 80th year at the Extendicare Nursing Home in Port Hope, surrounded by his family.

Loving husband of 55 years to surviving wife Ethel (née Chaput).

Devoted father to Sharon (Michael), Tim (Susan), Sandra (Rod) and Chantelle.

Proud grandfather of Trevor, Jamie, Josh, Jesse, Kaleigh and Brynn (predeceased by grandchildren Nolan and David).

Dear brother of Helen, Joyce, Shirley, Darl and Roger.

Predeceased by sisters Marilyn, Jackie and Lorna and brother Dean.

Predeceased by his parents Celeste and Analda Gaudette.

Lester was a 31 year retiree from Ontario Hydro where he worked as an Ironworker.

Funeral arrangements to take place in Lester's hometown of Chapeau, Quebec, with a "Celebration of Life" to follow on April 23, 2017 in Cobourg, Ont at the Cobourg Legion 136 Orr Street, from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Hayes Funeral Home, Chapeau on Friday March 31, 2017 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and again in the evening from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Memorial service and mass will take place on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church, to be followed by a gathering at the St. Joseph's hall.

A very special thank you to Extendicare Port Hope staff, whose extraordinary care, compassion and empathy touched us dearly. Your care allowed him to feel as if he was at home. You ensured his final days with us were comfortable and you cared for our family as well.
