Peacefully, with family by his side, at the Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Myles “Bud” Beesley at 77 years of age.

BUCHEGGER, Joyce Violet - Passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Friday December 16, 2016 at age 85. 

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 59 years and her large family of six children, nine grand-children and three great-grand children. 

From her early years in the Salvation Army Church in Toronto and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour as a teen, she joyfully served as a single missionary with New Tribes Mission for six years in Bolivia and later 11 years with her husband Henry, among the Ayore tribe in Bolivia and Paraguay.

LANE, Dennis Maxon - We are sad to announce the passing of Dennis Lane at Streamway Villa Nursing Home in Cobourg on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at the age of 76. 

He was surrounded with love by his wife Marlene, son Shawn, brother Robert and his wife Mia, as he left this life to join his parents Ches and Sarah Lane and son Derrick.  

Dennis leaves behind his wife and best friend Marlene, his sons Robert Lane (Carol), Shawn Lane (Jodi), grandchildren Jason (Daniela), Kyleigh (Josh), Brendan, Michael, Jessica, Sarah, James, Courtney, Jenna and six great grandchildren. 

 

Burch EveBURCH, Evelyn Matilda - On December 13, 2016, Evelyn in her 99th year, passed away at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg. Her loving family was by her side as she went peacefully, knowing she was well loved.

Evelyn was known for her tireless commitment and dedication to Inner Wheel, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Red Cross, and the Port Hope Hospital Auxiliary.

She was the ultimate Blue Jays fan, recording every pitch, hit, error, and she especially loved ringing the bell for runs earned!

She was the beloved wife of the late Austin Burch. Loving mother of David and his wife Carol, Peter and the late John.

 

KENNEDY, Robert 'Bob' William - Age 64, peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg. 

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Diane of 32 years. 

Fondly remembered by sister Lynda Johnson (Harold); Judy Kennedy (predeceased); niece Kim Johnson; sisters-in-law Judy O’Leary (Paul); Virginia Fauteux (Paul Gill); brother-in-law Peter Staples (Kate); nieces Jennifer (Jason); Amy (Jon); nephew Robert (Lindsay) and five great nephews and a niece.

Paul Swift, a retired Toronto firefighter and resident of Port Hope, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa on December 10th, 2016 at the age of 68.

Beloved husband of Peggy for over 49 years. Beloved father of Paul (Maureen) of Cincinnati, Scott (Ange) of Oshawa. Proud Poppa of Corynne, Colleen, Nathan and J.P.

 

TAYLOR, Harry Lawrence - Passed away peacefully on December 9, 2016 at the age of 87 in Cobourg, Ontario.

He was brother of Walter and the younger son of Harry & Grace Taylor who raised both their sons in Fort William (Thunder Bay), Ontario. Harry attended Michigan Tech on a hockey scholarship where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Geology. He then completed a Masters of Science/Geology at the University of Minnesota. It was this education that brought him to the West where he enjoyed a long and very successful career as a geologist in the Alberta oil patch.

 

POTTER, Rev. David - Peacefully at Streamway Villa Nursing Home on Thursday, December 8, 2016 in his 91st year. 

David was born in Toronto and raised in Peterborough.

He was ordained in the United Church of Canada in 1956 and married to the love of his life Patricia Potter (nee Birchard) the same year.

David was the beloved father of Jane Smith (Gary), Judith Murray (Wayne), Alan Potter (Beverley), James Potter (Jacquie) and Douglas Potter (Patricia).

Loving wife of the late Lyle (2003).

Survived by her loving daughter Cheryl Edwards (Richard).

Manno KalMANNO, Kaljo “Kal” - Age 90, passed away surrounded by his family at the Belleville General Hospital on Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

He was born in Tallinn, Estonia on February 18, 1926 to the late Gustav and Pauline Manno.

Kal came to Canada in 1960; in 1963 he married Vera (Kasan), together they raised their son Raimond.

Kal was well known for his many achievements and trophies in the world of skiing and orienteering. He was an avid outdoorsman and with Vera enjoyed many hours at Presqu’ile Park.

 

Spurll HeatherSPURLL, Heather Mary - (Dec. 10, 1930 - Dec. 7, 2016) -

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 7, 2016 of cancer at Sunnybrook P.C.U., North York in her 86th year.

Predeceased by her husband Geoffrey Blackman Spurll, and one stepson (David), survived by 5 stepchildren (Gwen, Barbara, Robert, Vanessa, and Rosemary), their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

During her studies at York University, Heather won various academic awards including the 1984 Christopher Beattie Essay Prize for the best Sociology essay on a Canadian Topic.

 

VAN REET, Ora - (September 6, 1928 - December 6, 2016) - Ora died as a result of complications that developed after a fall. She was 88.

Ora grew up in NDG, Montreal, daughter of Gordon and Vivian Leahy, sister to Jim and Don. While pursing her degree in science at McGill University, she shared a Bunsen Burner with Hector the Director, aka Van, and the flame was lit for life.

Mummy had 4 girls under the age of 5 before her 31st birthday - Sandra Lecce (Don), Martha, Carolyn Wilcox (Bill) and Patricia, all born in different cities including Caracas! Once finally settled in Toronto in the early 60's, we were surprised and thrilled with the addition of our baby brother, Eric (Michele).

 

Marr PeterMARR, Dr. Peter Warren - It is with deep sadness that the family of Dr. Peter W. Marr, son of the late Doris and Warren Marr, announces his sudden death at home on Tuesday December 6, 2016.

After receiving his PhD. in Chemistry from the University of Toronto, Peter joined Dominion Colour Corporation as a research chemist and eventually assumed the roles of Manager of the Organic Pigment Laboratory, Technical Service Manager, Business Manager and Market Development Manager.

In 1996 he became DCC's ISO 9000 and Regulatory Advisor and Manager.
