Stokes BerniceSTOKES, Margaret 'Bernice' (Wheaton) – Entered into rest peacefully, with her family by her side, on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2017 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, in her 81st year.

Bernice was the beloved wife of the late Nelson Stokes for 60 years.

Bernice was the loving mother of Holly (Claude) Blacksky, Gordon (Debbie) Stokes and Donna Stokes.

She was the dear grandmother of Tanya, Amber, Matthew, Lisa, Joshua and Jessica, and great grandmother of Brittney, Madison, Mitchell, Megan, Mackenzie, Anna, George, Matthew, Layne, Eoin and Aireon.  Beloved sister of Ernest Wheaton.

Loving grandmother of Nicholas (Amanda), Brennan (Rebecca), Hawley, and Kinsley.

Sister of Marion Delve of Kinston, Morley (Anne) Hawley of Tweed, and the late Myrtle, and Howard Hawley. Sister-in-law of Daphne Hawley of Napanee, and the late Samuel Delve.

Joyce was born in Timmins, Ontario on January 2, 1934 and died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in her 84th year.

Joyce, loving and devoted mother of Steve Hambleton (Janet), and Denise Hambleton-Fisher (Mike), and their father Alfred Hambleton (d.2006).

 

Trude NelsonTRUDE, Samuel 'Nelson' - Passed away at his residence on Tuesday October 3, 2017. Nelson Trude in his 92nd year.

Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (d. 2006).

Loving father of Darlene Clark (Meryl) and Joanne Elderbroom (Joël). Remembered by his grandchildren Amanda Clark (Duane), Matthew Clark (Erin), and Samantha Elderbroom (Jason) and great grandchildren Liam, Jackson, Rylan and Claire. Survived by his brother Bud (Eileen).

Predeceased by great grandson Zander, siblings Althea (d. Vernon), Donny (d. Isabele), and Marg (d. Arthur).

 

Lucas GladysLUCAS, Gladys Irene – At Fairhaven Longterm Care on October 3, 2017 at the age of 92.

Beloved wife of the late Ronald Wilfred Lucas. Loving mother of Ronnita Massey (late Don), Robert (Mary), Terry (Deanna) and Eugene (Karen).

Loved grandmother of 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Sister of the late Evelyn Montgomery and Lloyd Allan and survived by sister-in-law Mae Allan.

 

STEWART, Barbara Grace (Murduff) - It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Grace Stewart (Murduff) announces her passing on October 3rd, 2017. Barb passed away peacefully surrounded with her family at PRHC in her 61st year.

Barb will be lovingly remembered by her children William, and Amanda Stewart. Step mother to Robert Stewart, and Crystal Schmid. Barb will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Lerissa, Cadell and Lucas Stewart. Great grandchild Koby Noble.

Sister to Charlie Murduff, Shirley Elliott, and Cathy Hale. Predeceased Donna McFarlane, and Peter Murduff. Best friend Robert Stewart.

 

LaFONTE, Marie Selina – Of Peterborough, passed away at PRHC on Monday, October 2, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. She was in her 77th year.

Marie was a devoted wife of the late Edward. Cherished mother to Eddy LaFonte (Mary Rose), Karen Quesnel (Ron) and Kevin Weldon (Ann). Loving Nana to Laura (Tim), Dustin (Leanne), Jade, Melissa, John, Jennie and family. GiGi to Calli.

Loving sister of Joan (Brian), Karen (Roy), Phylis (Gord), David (Colleen) and Ellen. Predeceased by her parents Chris and Joan (Peterson) and Laura McDonald, her children John, Robert, Tammy, her brother Terry and brother in-law Brian.

 

Hales DavidHALES, John 'David' Allen – Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on October 2nd, 2017 at the age of 77.

Beloved husband of the late Audrey "Fern" Hales.

David was a man of great faith and a member of Murray Street Baptist Church, where he was involved in many activities. He was a longtime employee of Canadian General Electric where he worked as an accountant until his retirement.

Peacefully at Fairhaven Nursing home on Monday, October 2nd, 2017 at the age of 75.

Beloved husband of Mary Patricia McGuire. Loving father of Jennifer Wilhelm of Montreal, Mitch Manley of Peterborough and stepfather of Mike McGuire (Lisa) of Peterborough. Proud papa of Jack; Beth and Joe; Owen, Grayson, Kian and Kaeley.

Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Florence Manley. Survived by brothers Warren (Betty) and Grant.

Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Charlie Crombie. Loving mother of Kathy Robichaud (Dennis) and David Crombie (Cheryl). Proud grandmother and great grandmother.

Predeceased by her sisters Elinore Brewer (Allen) and Frances Sovran (Walter), Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

 

McCALLEN, Susan (nee O’Reilly) - Passed away peacefully at Tall Pines Long Term Care, Brampton in her 91st year, surrounded by those she loved.

Born in Monaghan, Ireland in 1927, Susan was the youngest of seven: Sadie (Birmingham), Mary (Warner), Josie (MacAleavey), John, Hugh and Roseleen (Kelly), all of whom predeceased her. She emigrated to Canada in 1954, and there met and married William McCallen.

They lived in Toronto until Bill’s retirement, when they moved to Apsley, a village she dearly loved and in turn loved her back. After Bill’s passing, Sue moved to Tall Pines to be close to her nephew Pat Kelly, his wife Helen, grandnephew Brendan and grandnieces Erin & Jodie and great grandnieces Quinn & Safina.

Beloved wife of the late John Robert Ellis. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Edward James Herbert of Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England.

Joyce was the youngest of three children, predeceased by her sister Amy (Sid) Mansfield of Cambridge, England, and brother Hugo John (Mary) Herbert of Cirencester, Gloucestershire, England, Mary & Pete Cox of Toronto, and Doris Snook of London.

 

McPHAIL, Rachelle Darlene (nee Hunt)  - Passed away on September 17th, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer at Peterborough Regional Health Hospital.

Beloved wife of the late Jamie McPhail.

Loving mother to Drew (Jody). Cherished grandmother to Sophia. Dear sister to Wayne (Dale), Darrell (Stefani) and Janice.

Beloved sister of the late Eileen, Maureen, and Richard. Loved aunt of the late Dale and Janine.

Peggy worked as a secretary for the Peterborough Examiner for 34 years. During her last nine years at the Examiner, she was the secretary to the publisher.
