Millen GeorginaMILLEN, Georgina Claire (nee Windsor) - Our Beloved Georgina Claire Millen (nee Windsor) has died and gone to heaven.

The grandma, mother, sister and great-grandmother died peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the age of 89 with her family by her bedside at the Fairhaven Nursing Home.

Loving mother of Liz Davis and Cindy Thomas, Georgina was born and raised in Peterborough and worked at the Westclox factory as a secretary where she met her late husband Bill Millen.

Georgina lived life to its fullest and will be remembered as an avid reader and outdoor adventurist, who loved to travel and keep active and on the go.

Diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2004, she lived independently with the support of her family and neighbours, and as the disease took her memory, it could not take her heart and strength to carry on.

Georgina had a lust for life and loved to dance. In the summertime, her great joys were playing golf and riding her bicycle and having picnics, while in the winter she enjoyed ice skating and cross country skiing. A caring and loving person, Georgina had an open door for anyone who needed it as she was a longtime volunteer in the community with several community agencies.

The widow lost her husband Bill in 1973 and never did remarry, preferring instead to spend as much time as possible with her five grandchildren, Megan and Darcy Davis (daughters of Liz and Ken Davis). Jesse Thomas and Cassy Watson (husband Andrew), (children of Cindy and John Thomas) and Kayla Johnston (husband Chris Briffett) (daughter of Cindy remarried to Paul Johnston).

Georgina was the eldest of 10 siblings including her brothers Haley Windsor (Faye), Dennis Windsor (Nancy), Reginald Windsor and sisters Sally Wright, Patricia More (Gene), Amy Turney (Stewart), Sandra More (George), Linda Cumming (Jim) Cathy Russell (Floyd).

Life can sometimes bring us divine coincidences, as fate would have it Georgina passed away on the same day, but 44 years later as her husband Bill.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Donations in memory of Georgina can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Fairhaven Foundation.
