Simmers PatSIMMERS, Patricia Noell 'Pat' (Hirons) - Passed away peacefully after a brief illness with her family by her side at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on February 10, 2017 in her 89th year.

Predeceased by her cherished husband Otto C. Simmers whom she is now reunited with in heaven.

Devoted and very special mom and mother-in-law to Christie O’Donnoghue, Jeffrey Ommen, and Elizabeth Shaughnessy (J. Mark). Grandma to Erin Gatlin (Marc) and Kelly Schreier (Marc). Gammy to Brett Ommen (Darlene) and Jessica Chitjian (Matt). Gam to Hayley and Luke Shaughnessy. GG to Vanessa, Madeline, Olivia, Luke, Olivia, and Camilla.

Daughter of the late Edward Hirons and Ruth Rice.

Pat was born in Elgin, Illinois. She spent her childhood years traveling and living in her grandfather's hotels. Most of Pat's adult life was in Dixon and Deerfield, Illinois before arriving to Peterborough in 1969.

Pat was the first female church warden at St. John's Anglican Church and a multiple 9-hole Ladies’ Club Champion at PGCC. Her passions included daily family messaging, playing bridge, knitting, reading, and cheering for the New England Patriots and the Chicago Cubs.

The family sincerely wishes to thank Dr. J. Neville, Dr. J. Hassan, Dr. M. Gibson, the PRHC Palliative Care team and the Canterbury Gardens staff for their exceptional and compassionate care to Pat.

Private funeral arrangements have been made. Arrangements entrusted with Highland Park funeral centre, Peterborough. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John's Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
