Day BarryDAY, The Reverend Dr. Barry Bruce - Passed away suddenly in Peterborough ON, on March 9, 2017 in his 83rd year.

Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Greta Day of Winnipeg and his sister, Leona Day, he is survived by his sister Doreen (Jack) Lowe. Devoted husband of Lilia, his life-long soul mate who died so recently.

Proud and loving father of Kathryn (David Oikawa); Lorna (David Wilson) and Duncan (Liz Payette) and adoring grampa to Oliver, Simon, Hannah, Sam, Charlotte, Dexter, Neville and Lewis.

Barry was a true gentleman and family man with a great sense of humour and a quick wit. He was born in Manitoba and educated at the University of Winnipeg where he met his beloved wife Lilia. Ordained as a United Church Minister in 1958, he served congregations in rural Manitoba and Toronto (Timothy Eaton Memorial Church). Many in the Peterborough and Keene communities will remember him for his leadership, his relevant and touching sermons, his stories, and his compassion.

He had the ability to really see people, and he connected with strangers and special friends alike. He showed his emotions easily and the first to weep in the face of beauty. His huge heart found plenty of room for pride in his children and grandchildren, love and respect for his many colleagues, friends and extended family and the deepest most profound love for Lilia, who he has missed terribly these past months. He was a man of God, who tried to encourage all to follow the Christ-like way.

Funeral Service: March 25th at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church (360 Reid Street, Peterborough). A time of fellowship will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the charity of your choice. Arrangements by Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough.
