Gauthier GerryGAUTHIER, Geraldine 'Gerry' Shirley (nee Boon) - (October 1st, 1938 - April 3rd, 2017) -

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Gerry has gone to meet Johnny her late husband of 39 years, who has been waiting patiently for her in the left hand corner of heaven for 18 years.

Gerry leaves behind her pride and joy. Son Greg and wife Leslie Gauthier, grandchildren Natalia and RJ, of New Hope, PA. Daughter Lynn Horton and grandson Dakota of Peterborough. Son Brad and wife Diane of Timmins.

She is survived and will be sorely missed by sister, best friend and travel companion Peggy Regis of Terrace Bay, sister Marlene and Jim Kostecki of Thunder Bay, sister in law, partner in crime and gambling buddy Darquise Lalonde, of Orleans, sister in law Lynne Dodd of Thunder Bay.

She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eleanor Boon, her parents in- law, Alan and Lucienne Gauthier, Sister, Lois Fenelon, brothers, Jim Boon,Norman Boon, Gus Boon,  Brothers in law, Roger Lalonde, Joe Langis, Al Regis, Tom Fenelon, sisters in law, Georgette Langis, Jeanne Boon, Shirley Boon.

Auntie Gerry, as she was known by many nieces and nephews will miss her terribly. She also leaves behind many cousins and friends who will miss her , pleasant smile.

Gerry was born and raised in Northwestern Ontario on the north shore of lake Superior, a small railroad town, Schreiber. She moved to Foleyet as chief telephone operator for Bell Canada  in 1959, where she met and married Johnny Gauthier. They raised their three children, Greg, Lynn and Brad, in Foleyet. She remained in Foleyet until 2007, when she moved to Peterborough, where both Lynn and Greg lived. 

Gerry was welcomed to Peterborough by the Horton family, known mostly as Memere, Friday night dinners won’t be the same for good friend Joan Horton.

Gerry loved to travel, down to Pennsylvania visiting Doris Thompson, and Doris'  grandchildren Ryan, Justin and Amanda. She, Lynn, Dakota, and Peggy were frequent cruisers, and she loved sitting by the pool with a glass of wine on her many trips to Florida. Because of this  love of travel, she asked Lynn to take her on a last road trip. 

Arrangements are as follows;
Easter weekend, Gerry will be heading to New Hope, PA, where Greg and his family will celebrate her life.
Thursday, May 4th she will be in Foleyet at Notre Dame Parish hall, between 6 and 8 PM.
Saturday, May 6th at 11 AM, a Funeral Mass will be held in Holy Angel's Catholic Church. Schreiber, On
Saturday, May 13th at 2 PM, she will be laid to rest with Johnny at Highland Park Cemetery, Peterborough.
All locations are open to all family and friends.

Special Thank You to great nephew Jason Langis who was there for auntie Gerry in her final months. Lynn would also like to thank her BMO Bank of Montreal family for their support and all her BMO clients who have reached out to her during this difficult time.

Gerry was fortunate to have excellent care from her family  Dr. Sandra Kahn, and her nurse Lynn.
