JEFFERY, Anne 'Agnes' - (Born January 28, 1920) – It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Anne Agnes Jeffery at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on April 10, 2017 in her 98th year.
Beloved wife of the late Arthur Jeffery for 65 years.
Loving and caring mother of David Jeffery and wife Dianne (Rood) and Heather Jeffery Josephs and husband Peter. Grandma to Katie & Michael Josephs. Agnes will be missed by many nieces and nephews and special niece Sharon Casey.
Predeceased by her parents James Sheridan and Anne Farrell,
Agnes was one of ten children and the last surviving member. She was predeceased by brothers William, Stanis and Clement of U.S.A., Joseph & Francis of Peterborough, and by her sisters Stella Jones, Rose O'Brien, Mary Sheridan and Theresa Murduff.
During World War II Agnes was employed by the Department of National Defence. She was also an active member of the Emergency Measures Branch E.M.O. Peterborough had two hospitals Nichols & St. Josephs. EMO members were trained in emergency care and had stations throughout the city to transport wounded to either hospital and care for the wounded.
After the war, she joined the St. John's Ambulance and earned her 1st label in First Aid to the injured and 2nd label Home Nursing teaching first Aid to students. She was a longtime member of 428 Air Force Wing and a devout member of Westdale United Church and Maple Ridge Seniors. She taught line dancing at 428 Wing and was leader of the 428 Jet Liners entertaining seniors in the area.
Service will be held to Celebrate her life at Westdale United Church, 1509 Sherbrooke Street, Peterborough on Saturday, April 22nd at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
