WESTLAKE, William Oswald 'Os' - (Retired Fire Chief) - Peacefully after a brief illness in his 92nd year, at Fairhaven Home for the Aged on Saturday August 5, 2017.
Os, longtime resident of Selwyn Township, 3rd generation farmer and 41 years as a volunteer firefighter with the last 18 as the Fire Chief of Smith Township until his retirement at the amalgamation of Selwyn Township.
He was the beloved husband of the late June (Carl) for 52 years (2006). Longtime companion of his cousin Frances Woods, currently of Innisfail, Alberta. Loving father to Wendy Fulton (David), Wayne (Carol) and Marvin (Beth).
Proud grandfather of Amanda (Shawn Bishop), Amber (Dave Harmon), Ryan (Julia), Michael (Victoria), Kaitlyn, William and Emma. Great-grandfather of Hannah, Brayden, Aubree, Zoey, Cameron, and Axel. Survived by his siblings Tom (Marilyn) and sister-in law Bev Westlake.
Predeceased by his siblings Gerald (Dorothy), Don (Jean), Peg (Wes Ellis), Joan (Stewart Bell and second husband Art Darling), Willa (Ron Darling) and John. Will be sadly missed by his in-laws Jean Carl, Judy and Tom Beauchamp and Ferne and Gary Earle as well as many extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call at Ashburnham funeral home, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough on Monday August 14th, from 4-8pm and again on Tuesday August 15th from 10am until the time of a Celebration of Life Service at 11am. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Interment Bridgenorth Cemetery.
