He was in his 96th year.
Born and educated in Perth, Ontario, he was the son of Robert I. Scott and Grace Bell Kennedy (Scott).
Following 15 years in the paint industry in Toronto, Don and his family moved to Lindsay to open a Decorating Centre.
During his business years, Don served on the board of directors of a number of organizations, including the Ontario Tourist Council, Leisure World Limited, and the Canadian Paint & Wallpaper Dealers Associations.
He was past President of the Lindsay chamber of commerce, the Kawartha Lakes Tourist Council, Kawartha Festival Foundation, and Lindsay Canadian Club.
He was the chair of the Lindsay B.I.A., and Lindsay Parking Authority for many years.
Retirement in 1987 allowed more time to enjoy the cottage, winter activities, and travel with his wife, Gwen, in Canada, Europe, the Islands and the States, but his greatest pleasure came from his family.
Don is predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Gwendolyn Bell (Scott), his second son, Graham, and his brother, Edwin.
He is survived by 5 children, Steve, Cameron, Devon, Lauren & Martin, 10 grand children and 4 great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as "Bompa".
A celebration of life will be held at a future date, yet to be determined.
Don will be laid to rest with his wife Gwen at the Elmwood Cemetery, Perth, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
