For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Palmateer LiliasPALMATEER, Lilias Norah - With deep sorrow, the family of Lilias Norah Palmateer announces her passing, on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the age of 94, in Lindsay, Ontario.

Lil was born on January 22, 1924 in Rutherglen, Scotland, the daughter of Ernest Alfred Polley and Euphemia Allan.

Married Clifford Allen Palmateer on January 23, 1943.

Predeceased by Cliff on July 9, 1996.

Survived by her older sister, Euphemia Louise Brown, of Toronto; three sons and their wives, Douglas (Sally) of Toronto, Robert (Sherrin) of Caledon and Brian (Gloria) of Lindsay; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Andrew Laidlaw) of Orangeville, Sharron (Rob Donohue) of Eganville, Scott (Jennifer Campbell) of Kitchener, Kathryn (Shawn Whitney) of Granada, Spain, Norah (Brendan Croft) of Bearsden, Scotland , David Archer (Erica Brown) of Woodville, Melissa Alfred (Ron) of Lindsay, Graham of Toronto and Vanessa Archer of Lindsay; 17 great-grandchildren, Rowan and Anjali Laidlaw, Nathan Donohue, Declan and Gryffin Palmateer, Ayson Nutbrown, Beatrice and Thelma Palmateer-Whitney, Lydia and Margot Croft, Nolan, Chad and Drew Archer, Kylie, Amara and Jazmin Alfred and Jaiden Archer; and nieces Linda Reid and Donna Lockhart and nephews Wayne Collins, Jim and Bill Palmateer and Ken Brown and their families.

A Celebration of Lil's Life has taken place and her urn was interred at Rosemount Memorial Gardens in Peterborough.

In memory of Lil, donations to a Humane Society or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated.
