McLAUGHLIN, Timothy Andrew 'Tim' - Tim was a devoted husband, beloved father, loving son, and brother, friend, and respected soccer and curling coach. He died March 26, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones. He was 57.
Tim was a Commercial Team Leader with (formerly GE Nuclear/GE-Hitachi Nuclear) BWXT in Peterborough, a job he held for 27 years.
His passion was soccer, a game he played with flair as a young man, and later as a coach. He coached hundreds of young players in the Peterborough City Soccer Association and Peterborough Youth Soccer Club for over 19 years. Tim was also a current member of the PYSC Board of Directors and an active member of the Peterborough Curling Club. An accomplished student athlete, Tim also excelled at curling, golf, skiing, and hockey.
HAIG, Gerald 'Jerry' Edward - Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 26th, 2017 in his 52nd year.
Beloved husband of Debbie (nee: Wilson). Loving father of Jerry (Sabina), and Hunter (Casey). Will be loved and remembered by his father Terry, and his sisters: Kim Crawford (Winston), Shelley Parcells (Ron), Susan Garrett (Dave), and Jane Boyle (Jason).
Predeceased by his mother Wilma (nee: Redden). He will be dearly missed by Barry and Ruth, Tom and Pat, and Tony and Terri Wilson, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
GRAY, Jane Orr - (1918 - 2017) - Passed peacefully March 26, 2017 at Extendicare Lakefield.
Jane (also known as Jean) came to Canada from Scotland in 1923 when she was 5 yrs old with her parents John and Janet Campbell. Jane’s family with her four brothers (John, Glen, David and Colin) made Montreal (Verdun) their home for the next 50 plus years.
Jane worked at Northern Electric and Montreal General Hospital and participated in church choirs (Verdun/Crawford Park United) and local plays, always enjoying her moment to shine. Jane spent her retirement years getting back to the land near Alexandria, ON continuing to seek out opportunities to share her vocal talents.
KING, John Charles - It is with a deep sense of personal loss that we announce the passing of John Charles King at his home in North Kawartha, Ontario, on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the age of 68.
Born August 18, 1948, he was the eldest child of Allan “Russell” King and his wife Mary Catharine (nee Finley).
John is survived by his wife and partner in ministry, Laura (nee Luther), and was the proud father of two sons, Vaughan, (Vahen), Lance (Jillian), and one daughter Tamara Prosser (Jonathan).
He enjoyed telling people that he had one and half dozen grandchildren—(that’s seven!)—Griffin and Reilley King, and Josiah, Noah, Levi, Joshua and Tianna Prosser. Tianna is the ’one’ and the six boys are the “half dozen”.
BURTON, Robert Graham ‘Bob’ - Age 66, passed away peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Saturday, March 25th, 2017 with his daughter by his side.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Linda (nee Black); his daughter Kristin (Rony); his son Michael (Sonya); his three grandchildren; his mother Joanne; his uncle Frank; his brothers, Tom, Ken (Marion), Glen (Debbie), Dale (Linda), Brad (Carol) and Brook; his sister, Joanne, and his many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary, his brother, Daniel and his sister, Jane Dinsdale. He will be sadly missed by his brothers-in-law, Alan (Maggie), Paul (Helen) and Mark (Kim) as well as his former colleagues at Allstream and all of his golf buddies.
DeHAAN, Evert I. 'Ed' - Peacefully passed away at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on March 25th, 2017 at the age of 89.
He was very grateful to all his relatives and friends for their love and friendship during the last years.
Evert was the husband of the late Julie DeHaan (Muys) and loving companion of Marilyn E. J. Westbye. He leaves behind his two children, Jerome and Dagmar DeHaan, and Trudy and Jeff Hammond, as well as his four grandchildren Carolin and Lucy DeHaan, and Gregory and Jennifer Hammond.
DIMMA, Ruby (nee Cress) – Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at Princess Gardens where she had resided since 2004. She lived a wonderful life and was exactly one month shy of her 106th birthday.

LUPTON, Phyllis Maybelle (nee Wismer) - Passed away peacefully at Royal Gardens, Peterborough, Ontario on Friday, March 24th, 2017 in her 89th year.
Beloved wife of the late Harry Gordon Lupton for over 43 years. Phyllis was the daughter of Daniel and May Belle Wismer (nee-Cornelius). Originally from Camden, Ontario, Phyllis grew up on the family farm and enjoyed the company of her cousins in the Louth and Cornelius families.
Phyllis will be fondly remembered by all her cousins, their children and her close friends. Phyllis and Gord were members of Knox United Church for many years where she participated in the choir and was an active volunteer. She also volunteered with Junior Farmers, the Peterborough Exhibition Board, Lang, and the Theatre Guild.

DAVIDSON, Judith Dianne 'Judy' (nee Moote) - Passed away peacefully yet suddenly at her home on Thursday March 23, 2017. Judy Davidson of Lakefield, formerly of Ayr, Ontario, in her 71st year.
After spending 25 years at her beloved country home 'Roxburgh Place' in Ayr where she tended her gorgeous gardens and raised Golden Retrievers, Judy moved to Lakefield 5 years ago to be closer to her dear Grandchildren, and spent many a weekend 'cheering them on' at their various activities.
As a 30-year member of the Canadian Kennel Club, Judy took great pride in raising her pups and many have enjoyed owning her beautiful Golden Retriever dogs over the years.

WILES, Roscoe Russell 'Ross' - Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 22, 2017 in his 88th year.
He was born on March 5th, 1929 to Elizabeth and Ross Wiles.
Ross has been a resident of Lakefield since his early teens. He was best known as a “pillar” of the community and co-founded our local food bank with his predeceased wife and love of his life Dolores Wiles. They married after love at first sight. They celebrated over 50 years of marriage.

SMITH, Sister Jean (Sister Jean Marie) CSJ - The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, announces the death of our dear Sister Jean Smith at Mount St. Joseph, Peterborough, on March 19th, 2017.
Sr. Jean was born in Peterborough in 1932. Sr. Jean is predeceased by her parents, the late Stella (McMurray) and Clifford Smith and by her brother Bill. She is survived by her brother Jim of Peterborough and sister-in-law Debbie Smith, nephews Jim Jr., John and Shane Smith and niece Holly Godward, and several great nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community, the Sisters of St. Joseph, and the many friends she made during her years of service to others. Sister Jean entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peterborough in February, 1949. During her religious life she had a varied life of ministry. She began teaching in Ottawa and for 28 years taught in numerous schools in Ontario (Almonte, Port Hope, Lindsay, Campbellford and Peterborough as Principal at St. Pius).

Avis was born in Kirkland, Scotland. Avis and Bill were married in March of 1968 and then moved to Canada a few weeks later. They settled in Toronto for four years, then moved to Cavan when they decided to start a family.
