He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, especially daughters, Nancy McLean (Bill) and Laurie, grandchildren, Elizabeth Wren (Jesse), Michael, and Christine, and great grandchildren, Isobel, Lachlan, Alwyn and Aiden.

He had a quiet gentle presence, and his quirky sense of humour, though sometimes unexpected, always made us laugh.  Dad was a jack of all trades, as a wood carver, stain glass maker, plumber, electrician, carpenter and painter. He succeeded in all things.

NEAL, David Alan - David Alan Neal passed away peacefully on May 4, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce, 3 sons, Graham (Laurie), Adrian (Helen), Paul (Cybelle), 5 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his daughter Marjorie.

 

BLOM, Anthony 'Tony' Roelof - Born May 20, 1922 in De Steeg, Netherlands, died May 4, 2017, Brampton, Ontario in his 95th year.

Beloved husband for over 65 years of Maria (De Reus).

Anthony (Tony) and Maria (Mary) immigrated to Canada in 1954. In the Netherlands, he worked as a machinist and used those skills working for Avro Aircraft company in Toronto for a few years. Eventually, he and Maria settled in Peterborough, where he started his own business, KEMCO, in service station maintenance.

In 2000, they moved to Holland Christian Homes in Brampton, moving into Grace Manor, the long term care facility there when health concerns made it necessary.

 

McGillis GeorgeMcGILLIS, George Welland - (August 12, 1940 - May 4, 2017) - It is with great sadness that the family of George Welland McGillis announces his passing on May 4, 2017 in Comox, B.C.

Beloved husband of Kathy (Vickers), loving father of Lori (Bruce) and Sean. He was a special "Papa" to granddaughter Siera.

George was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on August 12, 1940 and met and married Kathy in Ottawa. He raised his family in Halifax, N.S. and Peterborough, Ont., where he worked for Mutual Life before starting his own company, the Proctectors Group, with Doug Cox and later welcomed partner Brian Porter.

 

Tapsell JimTAPSELL, James Edward 'Jim' - (March 26, 1919 - May 4, 2017) – Peacefully at Lakefield Extendicare, in his 99th year, surrounded by his family.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Betty and son John. Loving father of Jane (Frank), Anne, Carol and Mary (Larry). Grandfather of Sarah (Rod), James, Johnathan, Caitlin, Mark and Fraser. Great Grandfather of Kaiden and Gavin.

Jim had a long and successful career with IBM. He was an active Rotarian throughout the years. On retirement, he and Betty moved to Peterborough from Toronto, and enjoyed many good times traveling and visiting with friends and family at the cottage.

It is with great sadness that Heather Scott (nee McNaughton) has to relay the passing of her hero, her rock of over 48 years.

Michael was a proud father to our two daughters the late Tammy Scott-Stewart and Kerry Hall (Robert).  He was a special grandfather to Kristin (Tyler), Elyse (Trevor), Emma (Jay), Brianne, Jessie, Leah and Scott.  Pops to 2 beautiful great granddaughters, Kinsley and Emery Briere. Thank you Kristin and Tyler.
