Thorpe MonicaTHORPE, Monica Marie - May 28, 1958-September 10, 2016 - Passed away with her family by her side on September 10, 2016.

Monica Thorpe of Lafontaine, beloved wife of Michael Thorpe.

Cherished mother of Jennifer(Paul) Grise, Kate and Peter.

Loving Oma to Madeline.

Monica will be dearly missed by her sister Heidi and mother Ilse Sternig.

She leaves behind as well many loving relatives and friends.

Monica grew up in Scarborough and after getting a degree in Microbiology from Seneca College went to work for the City of Toronto as a water quality inspector working on the Don and Humber rivers.

She raised Jennifer as single mom in Toronto and then began a new family up by the shores of Georgian Bay in the Penetanguishene area.

She loved her family, hiking and canoeing in the outdoors and travel, making trips to Haida Gwaii and Bermuda with her children Kate and Peter in the last few months of her life. We will miss her very much.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Perkinsfield on Wednesday, September 21st at 10 am. Cremation has taken place.

If desired, in memoriam donations to the Georgian Bay Cancer Support Center would be appreciated by the family.
