BAKER, Elizabeth Ann 'Lizzie' (nee McKee) - Widow of Gerry Baker, passed away peacefully in her home / “Garden of Paradise” on October 12, 2016.
Leaving her beloved children Theresa, Phil and Beth (Phil C.) and her dear grandchildren Stephen, Christopher, Rachel, Catherine, Sarah and Heyden. Liz also leaves behind 2 sisters, Marnie Dolan and Ginny Mason (Mark) and her brother Pat McKee (Lynn), her dear cousin Mary Anne, her sister in law Mary, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers Buddo and Jimmy. Lizzie’s spirit, humor and wit will be dearly missed.
Lizzie touched numerous lives throughout her life and leaves behind many memories of caring and having fun. Liz’s strong character and determination will be remembered. Family was the most important thing to her as well as faith and good friends, especially her roomie Astrid and the Nurses. Liz loved games like scrabble, crosswords, bingo, knitting and doing crafts with the wonderful group of women at the Swinging Seniors Club. Liz looked forward to the annual Nurses’ weekend and enjoyed many good times.
Liz, a retired nurse, worked most of her career as a visiting nurse in palliative care. She wanted to die at home, in her bed and we are grateful to the many people who helped us make that wish come true and with TLC. We want to especially thank Lisa, Sonya, Melissa, Robyn and Tracy for their amazing care and kindness and who brought smiles to her each visit.
Our family wishes to give special thanks to: Fr. Gervais and Fr. Silvio of St Patrick’s Church, Dan, Nicole, Dr. Cochrane, Jen Sneddon, and Marnie Dolan.
In lieu of flowers, Lizzie asked for donations to local charities. We have selected Community Reach (www.communityreach.ca) and Candlelighters of Simcoe County (www.candlelighterssimcoe.ca).
A mass will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Perkinsfield, followed by a celebration of her life at the Georgian Shores Swinging Seniors Club.
