SHUTTLEWORTH, June - Passed away peacefully at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Collingwood Hospital, with her husband David Shuttleworth, daughters Lynne Shuttleworth, Anne Shuttleworth-Vendetti, and son-in-law Gino Vendetti at her bedside.

She was the daughter of Jim and Jenny Barrass, both deceased, and sister of Margaret Chittenden, who predeceased her by only 2 months.

June was born on June 17, 1930 in Hammersmith, London, England, and came to Canada in 1958 to visit her parents, who had immigrated from England to Collingwood.

She’d planned to train as a missionary for foreign service, but this never happened because she met and fell in love with David. They were married on June 6, 1959 and enjoyed a loving relationship that lasted almost 58 years.

An avid traveller, June enjoyed many trips with David, including a last trip to Florida in January.

June was a very charming and empathetic person, who poured love and affection into her cooking, baking, knitting and crocheting for friends and family. She was very musical — a pianist, a singer, and a fan of opera and classical music.

She loved growing plants and flowers. But mostly June will be remembered for her concern and affection for other people, always putting their needs above her own.

A memorial service attended by 216 was held for June Shuttleworth at the Kingdom Hall, Collingwood on Saturday, March 4th.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Quigg and all the wonderful nurses at the hospital who took good care of June over her last days.
