Jensen KajJENSEN, Kaj Ringsholt Jensen - At age 80, Kaj passed away peacefully at the Campbell House Hospice Saturday April 8 2017. Kaj fought hard with kidney and heart problems for the last months of his life.

He was well cared for at the Collingwood and Orillia Hospitals before arriving at Campbell House where once again the care was attentive in that quiet, peaceful place.

Kaj was born in Denmark where he trained as a carpenter before immigrating to Canada in 1957. He came to Collingwood as his mother had previously settled in the area. He spoke no English so to meet people and learn the language he joined the local soccer and tennis clubs. There he met lifelong friends.

One friendship became a marriage to Blanche Corbett in 1960. Kaj began building houses locally and then in mid-1960’s he teamed up with Harold Pifer to form the contracting company Pifer and Jensen General Contractors. That company became one of the largest home builders in the Collingwood area building over 250 homes until it ceased operation fifteen years later.

During this time Kaj and Blanche had two children, Liane born in 1961 and Kristian born in 1965.

Kaj continued with some building but he and Blanche travelled over the next years until their marriage ended. In 1993 Kaj moved to Clarksburg to live with Birthe Christensen in full retirement.

Kaj is survived by many loving family members.

A gathering in memory of Kaj will be announced at a future date.

Contributions in memory can be made to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation online or to the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.
