For years, we have posted regional death notices as a free public service, while taking on the complete cost of publishing ourselves. We can no longer do so.

Without participating Funeral Centres, Cemeteries, Monument Suppliers and Local Businesses advertising with us, we can no longer run this website at a financial deficit.

We have received dozens of emails by folks upset at the discontinuation of our daily updates, and we apologize.  We also love this site, and considered it a great service to the public by accumulating and listing all Regional Obituaries in one spot.

Also, we appreciate the privacy to not contact the families of friends for funeral arrangements who may be shortly passing, as well as, friends not having to frequently check all local funeral centre websites for service information.

Bumstead RussBUMSTEAD, Russel Jay - Passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Meaford General Hospital on February 11, 2018, at the age of 85.

Dear husband of Kathryn (Adams), and loving father of Lori (Alan) and Rendell (Chantal).

He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Mitchell, Solène and Amélie, and step-grandson Jimmie.

Dear brother to Vi (late Glen), Al (Doris), and Kelly (Sherleen). Predeceased by his parents William T. and Gladys (MacMillan), and siblings Ruby, Mabel, Don (Edith), Jean (Milton), Gord, Marj (Frank), and Shirley (Phil). Fondly remembered by sister-in-law, Ina, and many nieces and nephews.

Russ was born and raised in St. Vincent Township, and spent his early life farming the family homestead before discovering his passion for building. In later years, his entrepreneurial spirit shone with the launch of the Ponderosa Party Rentals, where many weddings and events were held amongst his beautiful gardens. Russ was also a 35-year member of the Meaford Rotary Club.

The Bumstead family is eternally grateful for the care and compassion Russ received over the past 2 weeks at Meaford General Hospital.

Visitation at Gardiner-Wilson Funeral Home, Meaford on Wednesday Feb. 14, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Meaford United Church, 7 Boucher St E., on Thursday Feb 15, 2018 at 11am.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to Meaford General Hospital, Meaford Rotary Club, or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, would be appreciated.
