MELZER, Heinz H. - 1944 - 2021 Surrounded by the love of his family, Heinz died unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on October 15, 2021, at the Dorothy Ley Hospice.
He will be fondly remembered by his wife Dominique, his daughter Nathalie (Peter) and his infant grandson Matteo.
Heinz was born in Germany and kept close ties with his sister Rita (Peter), his niece Kerstin and her family.
When he was 22 years old, he moved to Paris and met his future wife.
While there, he met his best friend Frank, who convinced him to eventually move, in 1972, to greener pastures and the wild North, Canada.

Predeceased by her husband Chester (2016).

PINKERTON, Helen Elizabeth (nee Rea) - Peacefully, at home with her family, on Friday, October 15, 2021, Helen Pinkerton (nee Rea), passed away at the age of 77.
Beloved wife of Brian Pinkerton and loving mother of David and Michael.
Helen's long battle with ALS showed her courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
Despite the adversity, she stayed positive until the end. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met and her cheerful attitude and bright smile will be missed.
Helen's education included Lakeshore Teachers College, York University, and a Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Education.
Helen taught in several schools within the Toronto Board of Education and this is where Helen became fast friends with Brian.

DINIS, Carlos (Carl) - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our loving Carlos, 59 years old, of Toronto, Ontario (Canada), who died unexpectedly on October 15, 2021, after a fatal car accident.
We are devasted by this loss and deeply saddened.
Born on February 14, 1962 to his loving parents Clarisse and Cipriano Dinis in a small town in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. Their “Carlitos”, immediately filled their lives with joy.
Soon after, in 1967 the family moved to Canada. Later, Carlos went on to have a successful career at CP Rail, DHL and Loomis in the transport business.

GEILICH, Nicholas - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nicolai on Friday October 15th, 2021, with his wife by his side.
In his 80 years, he had influenced so many lives. Nicolai’s charisma, kindness, sense of humour and intelligence could be felt by all who knew him.
Nicholas Serge Geilich was born on June 2nd, 1941 in Bor, Serbia. His parents, Natalie & Serge, were born in Russia and immigrated to Canada when Nicolai was a young boy.
Fondly known as Nicky to his family and friends, he considered himself a citizen of the world. From a sugar beet farm in Alberta when arriving in Canada as a young boy, he went on to achieve two degrees: Juris Doctor of Law and Civil Engineering.

CONNELL, Maureen "Honey" Gladys (nee HAZELWOOD) - On Friday, October 15, 2021, Maureen passed away peacefully in her 85th year at The Village of Humber Heights.
Loving wife for 61 years of the late Donald Connell, mother of Kelly (Allan) and Jane (Alex), and sister of Patricia Smith. Grammie, always stylish, will be sadly missed by grandchildren Stephen, Amy, and Alexa.

THEXTON, James David - Died October 15, 2021 aged 90, after a brief illness.
Beloved husband of Francoise for 66 years, father of his dear son Eric and his wife Isabelle, his eldest son the late Peter and “Badad” to his cherished grand daughters Hazel and Marik.
He will be sadly missed also, by his sister-in-law Peggy and her children: Hazel, Heather, David, Carole, Mandy, Michael and their families in England, all dear to his heart.
Born in Windermere (England) to a family of modest means, James acquired most of his education through scholarships. He obtained an MA in economics from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and an MA in History from the University of Ottawa.

She is survived by her husband, George of 66 years, who together built a wonderful life full of adventures, travel, love, and family.

MORFETAS, Sophia - Passed away peacefully on October 15, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Born on the island of Kerkyra (Corfu), the first of five children, to her parents Olympia and Stamatis, she was given a name which means “Supreme Wisdom” as that was also her grandmother’s name.
She desperately wanted to learn all she could about the world. This love of learning she passed on to her three daughters, all university graduates, whom she taught to love books and reading by taking them to local library in East York every week as children to borrow books.
