BONGARD, Rachmiel Samuel 'Ralph' - Passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021, at Extendicare Bayview, in his 84th year, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born June 15, 1937 in Toronto, Ralph was the oldest child of three to Unchel and Mirka Bongard.
He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Toby, son Josh, his Little Brother Michael Boyce, and his two brothers Howard and Marvin Bongard.
A graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design University, Ralph served as creative director at MacLaren Advertising before founding and operating Bongard Films Inc., a television commercial production house.

SASSO, Norina - Norina Sasso was born on December 9, 1961 in Toronto, Ontario and passed away on August 2, 2021 in Toronto, Ontario at the age of 59 years.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her 7 children, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and countless close family and friends.

RUSSELL, Dorothy - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dorothy on Monday August 2, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Dorothy is now re-united in heaven with her dear parents Agnus and Ernest Bickerstaff.
She was the loving wife of Brian Paul Russell. Dorothy was the cherished mother of Linda Bugliarisi and Paul Russell. She was the devoted grandmother of Lauren Bugliarisi and her partner George Bailey and Luciano Bugliarisi.
She was the admired sister of Ernest Bickerstaff (predeceased) and his wife Ethel (predeceased), Dennis Bickerstaff and his wife Francis, Iris (predeceased) and her husband David Gallagher (predeceased), Philip Bickerstaff (predeceased) and his wife Elsie and Sylvia and her husband Peter Gillies.

SLATER, Donna Aileen - (1944 - 2021) - After a long battle with health, Donna passed away at Mackenzie Health on August 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving Husband and Son.
Beloved wife of David for 52 years loving mother of Shawn for 45 years and proud grandmother of Dax, Chase, Teagan Slater.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Willene and Roy, sister Nancy, nephew Chad, and survived by her Brother Gary.
Donna grew up in East York and after graduating from East York Collegiate enrolled in Nursing school at East General Hospital.

MacLEAN, John Joseph - John Joseph (JJ) MacLean passed away peacefully on August 2nd, 2021 at Providence Health Care in his 87th year.
Predeceased by his loving wife Carol, his beloved brother Father Donald MacLean and his sister Kaye Campbell (Joe, deceased).
Survived by his sister Charlotte Mulhern (Paul) and his children Sharon Todkill (Mike), John MacLean, Julie Jeffery (Bill), Donna Semenenko (Colin) and Paul MacLean.

TURNER, Vivian Marie (Ryan) - It is with great sadness that we share the news of Vivian’s peaceful passing on August 2, 2021 at the age of 89, after a long battle with dementia.

KOVRIG, Elizabeth - August 7, 1933 - August 2, 2021 -
Just 5 days shy of her 88th birthday, and 5 days before the 1st anniversary of her husband’s death, Elizabeth Kovrig passed away at the Houses of Providence on Monday August 2, 2021 with her daughters by her side.
Elizabeth was born on August 7th 1933 in Fairground Ontario.
Her mother and namesake Elizabeth Prokator emigrated from Hungary with her husband Frank Prokator and had two sons – Frank and Steve.
The Prokators liked helping fellow Hungarian immigrants by renting out rooms in their home.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Isabel Smith announces her passing on August 2, 2021 at the age of 97.
Isabel, born Isabella Mary Scott in Toronto, passed peacefully at home, as she had wished.
Isabel was beloved by many for her kind heart, her bright spirit, sense of humour, generosity and her caring soul.

MAGI, Irja Merike (nee KAPSI) - August 31, 1937 - Tallinn, Estonia - August 2, 2021 - Toronto, Ontario
Irja, a beautiful, gentle soul, who has left us all with dear memories, died suddenly of a brain aneurism.
The Soviet invasions of Estonia in 1941 and 1944 caused her family to flee to Germany and eventually to Scotland.
In 1952, Irja's family emigrated from Scotland to Toronto. Irja's life in Toronto went well; she graduated from Jarvis Collegiate and the Physio Therapy programme at the University of Toronto, followed by immensely satisfying work at the Hospital for Sick Children and The Toronto General and Princess Margaret Hospitals.
In her retirement she volunteered for many years at PMH. Irja was a true Canadian who treasured and was enriched by her Estonian heritage.

HARMON, David - August 7, 1946 - August 2, 2021 - With much sadness the L’Arche Daybreak community in Richmond Hill announces the unexpected death of beloved long-time member David Harmon on Monday night, August 2, 2021 shortly before his 75th birthday.
He is survived by his three sisters, Marilyn Logan of Stouffville, Shirley MacKinnon of Belleville, and Donna Thornhill of Southbend, Indiana.
He was predeceased by his older brothers, Keith and Reid.
The devotion of his parents ensured that David far exceeded the prognosis of doctors.

LOEWEN, James Russell - It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jim Loewen on August 2, 2021 at the age of 88.
Jim was born in Elkhorn, Manitoba on March 23, 1933, and was part of a large close knit family of five brothers and two sisters.
His immediate and extended family was always important to Jim and he was forever linking family members with long lost cousins in far flung locales or inviting any relatives in the vicinity to join family get togethers.
Jim was married to Myrna (nee Lewarne) for over sixty years and together they built a wonderful life for themselves and their three sons (JohnMichaelBrian).
He spent his entire career with CIBC, starting as a teller from high school and ending as a Senior Vice President.

LAMBERT, Esther Hendry (nee MELVILLE) - Esther was born in Toronto, on July 3, 1929 and died in London, on August 2, 2021.
She was predeceased by her husband John Ernest (Jack) in 1993, her grandson Brian Mair in 2016, her brother Alexander (Scotty) in 2007 and her parents Robert Rose Melville and Annie Christie Melville.

KARGEL, Ilmar - Passed away peacefully at the Mississauga Hospital on August 2, 2021 at the age of 87.
He will be sadly missed by his loving and dedicated wife of 54 years, Erika.
Loving father to his daughters, Tanja (Michael McIllwraith) and Ira (Mitchell Kennedy).
Doting Opa to Amanda and Liam.
Before the grandchildren, he had grand golden retrievers, all of them equally adored his walks and love. He is survived by his brother Hans, and predeceased by his siblings; Waltraud, Gunnard, Harald, Reinhard and Benita.
He is lovingly remembered by his many Kargel and Mehrkens relatives. Ilmar was born in Latvia to a German family who immigrated to Canada in 1954, settling in Toronto.

HOFFMAN, Irene Blanche (nee FRANCOEUR) - 1925 -2021 Irene was called home.
She passed away peacefully at age 96 with family by her side.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Oscar, her grandson, Miles, and her daughter, Doris.
She leaves behind four children, Joyce (Don) Gordon, Roy (Lucie), Bob (Aiping Fu), and Doug (Barbara) Hoffman.
She is the cherished grandmother of Andrew, Philip, and Mark (Gordon), Patrick (Hoffman) and Luke McCall, Jared and Jessica (Hoffman), Robyn (Hoffman) and great-grandmother to Kaeson, Kaelan and Brady.
Irene was born in 1925 in Dalton Mills, Ontario, one of five daughters of Urbain and Judith Francoeur, becoming the 11th generation of a long line of Francoeurs, the first of whom arrived in Canada from France in 1680.

GAMOYDA, Ann - Ann (Anna) passed away peacefully at Bradford Valley Care Community on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the age of 89.
Ever-devoted to her one and only love for 64 years, her husband Vic (deceased).
Loving and supportive mother to Wendy, Kim (Kris) and Steve (Louisa).
Cherished and ever-loving grandmother (Nan) to Anthony (Ally).
Caring sister to Lena and predeceased by her siblings, Mike, Mondo, Al, Florence and her parents Antonio and Theresa. Ann was a truly beautiful woman both inside and out.
She was fiercely loyal to her husband and family; they were her heart and soul.

CRIST, Joan Maxine (nee MacDONALD) - Joan passed away peacefully on Monday August 2, 2021 at home in her own bed of old age in her 95th year.
She is survived by her son Kurt and her granddaughters Madeleine, Hilary and Amanda.
Predeceased by her husband Eric Ambrose and her sisters and brothers Eleanor Janet, Margaret Elizabeth, twin Jane Carron, John Wallace and William Delos.
Joan joined her son Kurt and they built a house on Pleasant Bay in Prince Edward County after Eric passed away in 2010 after 40 happy years living in Unionville.

MIDDLETON, Donald Westman - Only son of the late Earl and Wilda (nee Westman) Middleton. Born in 1928 at the township of London. Died August 2, 2021.
Survived by his husband Filomeno Jose (married October 25, 2020) and predeceased by his partner of 62 years, Clayton Wilson. Filomeno was Don’s constant support for more than 40 years.
Don was born on a farm and worked in the family grocery store in London, was educated at St. Mary’s Collegiate, and raised in the United Church.
He served as a Middlesex County Representative and Provincial President of Junior Farmers before accepting a position as a Secretary Fieldman of the local Federation of Agriculture.
