McKENNA, Rita (LABONTE)   - 1927 - 2018  Rita passed away quietly and peacefully at the age of 91.

Even at the end of her life she did it her way!

Rita was the devoted matriarch of the McKenna clan, she met the extraordinary task of raising 6 children on her own!

She was more than just an awesome Mom, she was a Wife, a Mother-in-Law, Daughter, a beloved Granny, Great-Grandmother and Aunt, a trusted friend and chauffeur, which was evident every time she packed her VW Bug with 6 kids and drove them to school.

She was intuitive, frugal and always giving great guidance and advice to her family whether you asked or not. She loved a glass of red wine, a good book, music, a challenging game of bridge and a potluck dinner with family with a little bit of dancing thrown in.

She was the cool Mom on the street, she was progressive (a step ahead of her time), proud, private and classy yet sassy at times. Rita joins her beloved daughter Diane who left us much too early and her parents Alphonse and Marie-Ange, brother Claude, sisters Mary, Betty, Gertrude and life-long friend Theo Long.

Rita was the pillar of her family and she will be so dearly missed.

Love you, goodbye Mom/Granny/ Mémère/Aunt! Rita leaves behind a proud and grateful family and is survived by her sons Andrew (Cathy), Edward (Suzanne), Robert and daughters Patricia (Barry) and Karen (Steve).

A celebration of Rita's life will be held on October 12, 2018. Location to be announced at a later date.

Thank you so much for everything you've given us. See you in our dreams.
